3 different faces. Eat popcorn, look at popcorn, laugh at movie.
Today we had a hangout day with REC youth and we popped our own popcorn! Watched "Hugo", a thought provoking movie set in 1930s Paris. I enjoyed the movie! Martin Scorsese depicted the life of the city as mechanical, but challenged us to think of the significance of our particular role in life. I won't go into detail, but go watch it!

Happy Birthday, Me
Today is my 21st birthday. I went out to a bar this morning at 12:30am with my brother and got a local beer. Later this evening, I am going to a family dinner at Red Rock Brewery followed by hanging out with my step brother for a bit.
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Canidae
Genus: Canis
Species: Canis familiaris
Now here is one species I KNOW all of you are familiar with... man's best friend, aka, the domestic dog. This particular dog is MY best friend, Sydney. She was born March 17th, 2006, and I got her 5 weeks later, when she still fit in the palm of my hand and had blue eyes. She's been my best friend ever since. Today is her 7th birthday! What an old lady! Happy birthday, Syd!
On the topic of the species... yes, you can arguably call the domestic dog a subspecies of gray wolf, i.e., Canis lupus familiaris, but that's a point of debate. For the purposes of this project, let's just say that in a perfect world, I'll make it out west at some point this summer and capture a photo of an actual wolf, and I'd love to have that as an option for my species of the day. So there, at least for this purpose, Syd is Canis familiaris.

Welcome to my Flickr 365 Project! I’m calling it my 365 Species Project, because for each day of the year, I will post a photo of a different species of organism. Today is day #76, and it's a very special day. No, not just because it's St. Patrick's Day, but because it's Syd the Squyd's birthday! In a little bit, we're headed to the park to celebrate! Of course I'll have my camera, and hopefully I can catch a few new species!
