This morning, a House Wren was trying to take over the bird house used by the Red-breasted Nuthatches. After their first brood was fledged, the female had laid another 7 eggs. Dale saw the wren and a nuthatch falling on the ground fighting. Here ismale worriedly checking then nest box. Looks like the wren won as the nuthatch eggs disappeared, and the wren is now calling near the house. This in spite of the fact we had installed another bird house nearby.
