Am 7.2.2013 führte die anscheinend nach Ulm ausgeliehene 218 413 den IC 118 durch das verschneite Bodenseeland in Richtung Friedrichshafen. Während die ersten paar Wagen und die Loks schon in Baden-Württemberg sind, ist der Zugeschluss noch irgendwo in Bayern. Von alledem sieht der Spaziergänger gar nichts mehr in 3..2...1...

The African bush elephant (Loxodonta africana), also known as the African savanna elephant, is the largest living terrestrial animal with bulls reaching a shoulder height of up to 4 m (13 ft). Both sexes have tusks, which erupt when they are 1–3 years old and grow throughout life.

It is distributed across 37 African countries and inhabits forests, grasslands and woodlands, wetlands and agricultural land. It is a social mammal, traveling in herds composed of cows and their offspring. Adult bulls usually live alone or in small bachelor groups. It is a herbivore, feeding on grasses, creepers, herbs, leaves and bark.

Since 2004, it has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. It is threatened foremost by habitat destruction, and in parts of its range also by poaching for meat and ivory.

They can weigh 7 t (7.7 short tons). The heaviest male on record weighed 10.4 t (11.5 short tons) and was shot in 1974 in Angola. Females are much smaller at about 2.2–2.6 m (7.2–8.5 ft) tall at the shoulder and up to 4 t (4.4 short tons) in weight.

Elephants attain their maximum stature when they complete the fusion of long-bone epiphyses, occurring in males around the age of 40 and females around the age of 25. – Wikipedia

Op maandag middag 7 februari scheen het zonnetje weer lekker en werden er weer wat treinen gespot. Een van de bijzondere vangsten deze dag was de RTS 1018 met een autotrein van RTB. Deze combinatie was onderweg naar Sloe en passeert de Hulteneindsestraat.

Goldstream Dredge No. 8 is a ladder dredge operated by the Fairbanks Exploration Company from 1928 to 1959. It is located on the old Steese Highway between Fairbanks and Fox in the central part of Alaska.

Starting in the 1920s, water was brought to the area through the 90-mile (145 km) Davidson Ditch for gold mining. The Goldstream Dredge No. 8 cut a 4.5-mile (7.2 km) track and produced 7.5 million ounces of gold.

The dredge was named a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. In 1984, it was listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, it is open to the public. During summer months, tours of the dredge and gold panning are available for a small fee.

Went on a bike ride on the D&L trail and saw a young black bear run across our path. Had a 4th treat and a 4th party in the evening. Pretty nice day
