I complained I'd missed the lightning storm the other day! Wish I'd kept my mouth shut. I got home from night shift desperate for some shut-eye only to be woken up within an hour by the apocalypse right outside my room. Loud isn't the word. This is a series of shots taken hand held from my bedroom window and tinkered with in Photoshop. Not entirely sure how to merge them properly and am too knackered to look into it!
This was one of the competitors in the FIA Historic Formula 2 International Series race at the Gold Cup meeting at Oulton Park in August 2017. It's the 1971 Lotus 69 of Roger Bevan which was designed to be used in Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula Ford racing, and this car had a 1600cc engine in accordance with the Formula 2 regulations in 1971 - probably the 4-cylinder Cosworth FVA. The Lotus 69 was also used in Formula B racing in the United States.

From the flower garden at Terra Fauna Farm: A couple weeks ago, we posted a similar picture, and the question came up - what are those flowers anyway? So if you were wondering, these are Gazania Treasure Flowers (or just Gazania for short). They're wide open during the day, but close up tight as soon as the sun goes down.
The GAZ-69 was built from 1953 until 1972 by GAZ (Gorky Automobile Plant) but mostly by UAZ (Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant). These small trucks were used by a number of armies in Eastern Europe.
