L’affascinante rocca di Monrupino è un luogo dal forte potere magnetico: ha sempre avuto la forza, nel corso dei millenni, di attrarre a sé le popolazioni circostanti. Il più antico insediamento è un castelliere protostorico, che di cui si possono ammirare a mezza costa i muraglioni di pietra costruiti a secco.
Successivamente fu teatro degli scontri tra romani ed Istri e ancora dopo divenne luogo di rifugio per la gente del luogo in fuga a causa delle invasioni barbariche. Attorno all’anno Mille risale la tradizione che vorrebbe la rocca come un luogo sacro per i Cavallieri Templari. Nel 1316 venne poi citata per la prima volta la chiesa di Santa Maria di Repen, la struttura attuale risale però al 1512, momento in cui si ingrandì l’edificio e si costruì il campanile. In precedenza il campanile era probabilmente di legno, così come tradizione in Carniola e in Carinzia. La data scolpita sul campanile si riferisce al restauro eseguito nel 1802. La pala d’altare del 1794 è dedicata a Maria, così come erano anticamente dedicate alla Vergine tutte le chiese del Carso

After two reversals since departing Brunswick to serve Portland, the 07.10 Amtrak Downeaster 682 heads south from Portland towards Boston. The train is approaching Winnocks Neck Road, Scarborough, Maine.

Not posted for a while, sorry. Have now joined Instagram, so have been posting on there for a bit to get used to it. I will be using both Flickr and IG but probability have some different photos on each one.
These photos are from last week where I got the chance to be Ann for 5 days, so went on some adventurers. The first image is my arrival back home from the cinema to see Downton Abbey (bit of a fan) then poped into the Crown LGBTQ pub. The other two photos are my travels up to Leeds to do some shopping.
