DBSchenker class 66089 still with the EWS decals approaches Burgs Lane Bayston Hill with a lightly loaded return steel train from the Dee Marsh Reception Sidings, Shotton Steel Works on route to Llanwern/Margam TC empties.

Once again a decent load for DB-Cargo. Shame about retaining the long outdated EWS livery but I guess that will be historic soon.

A fairly conventional three quarter shot of a Margam - Llanwern steel at Miskin in the pouring rain, nice it was double headed, nicer that the front loco is one of the few that escaped DB vinyl, the three beasties still on show.

SOMEWHERE UNDER THE RAINBOW

Passing under a part rainbow are DB Cargo class 66089, 127 (in old EWS livery) and 069 seen approaching the footbridge at Kempseye Shrewsbury with the Warrington Arpley Sidings to Margam Traction Complex cpnveying just a single refurbished BAA steel slab carrier wagon

With a decent rake of loaded SSA scrap metal wagons behind it, 66089 squeals into the yard at Margam. These wagons carried offcuts from Trostre Works for reprocessing at Port Talbot. The flow finished in June 2024 and the wagons were dispatched to EMR Kingsbury for scrap. This was the last flow to use SSA wagons.
