Porretta Terme, ottobre 2001: dal cassetto dei ricordi ecco uno spettacolare documento. Un treno svizzero d'agenzia composto da otto vetture serie "Train de Luxe - Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express" nel suo tour in Italia passare dalla Porrettana al traino di una eccellente doppia trazione di E656.
E656.016 was built in 1977 by Sofer-Italtrafo.
E656.016 runs out of Venezia S Lucia station on Tuesday morning September 18th, 2001.
It had worked sleeper & couchette train #EN223 20:01 Paris-Bercy to Venezia and was released from the platform when the sleepers had been shunted away.

The pilot truck has been installed and is working nicely! As youโll notice in the photo, the flange of the lead wheel comes into very slight contact with the cylinder on this R56 curve, so this will be an R72+ locomotive. Besides, whoโs using R40/R56 these days?
E.656.023 in esposizione al DRS di Pistoia durante l'annuale Porte Aperte organizzato dall'A.T.T.S. Italvapore. Ho fatto 800 km di strada, tra andata e ritorno, per ammirarla assieme alle due stupende 685!

With the distinctive plumes of Drax consuming the piercing late-November air, EYMS Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President PL51LDZ (656) seen as it leaves Barmby on the Marsh and retraces its tracks to Asselby whilst operating the 10:00 Gilberdyke (Staddlethorpe)-Goole 160.
There was a fairly comprehensive restructuring of this Wednesdays and Saturdays-only route in September 2014 which resulted in a reduced number of journeys. Previously, Wednesdays saw a South Cave-Goole AM journey, two round trips between Goole and Barmby on the Marsh as a 162, and then a return 160 to South Cave. The Saturday timetable offered more journeys, these coming in the form of a morning return from Newport to Goole via Barmby, another journey into Goole, a return 162 from Goole to Barmby and a final Goole to Newport journey, again via Barmby. Post-changes, the 162 was cut with the 160 reduced on both days to a single Staddlethorpe (Gilberdyke) to Goole morning working and afternoon return, both serving Barmby. At some point since I last photographed the routes in June 2013 the Wednesday journeys have โ on schooldays at least โ transferred from Elloughton to Pocklington depot, no doubt due to a combination of strategically-interworked school journeys and driver hours.
A more dramatic cut to service may be on the horizon as the 160 has been suggested for withdrawal in April 2017 as ERYC attempts to reduce its spend on public transport.
