It was a bright, sunny day and not an hour before, NCT's electric E400 City demonstrator had been reported on the 79, so I went to the top of Maid Marian Way in order to wait for it to come... which it didn't. I had thought it was going to be placed on one of the Mansfield Road routes, which is why I'd been waiting there at first. NCT have their fleet news Facebook page (which is currently inaccessible, again) but apparently it would've been too easy for them to use it to say which route the demo was on each day.
Anyway, here's 653 turning onto Maid Marian Way, about to, erm, 'terminate' with a 78 from Strelley. Ordinarily, I would have cast aside the photo because of the Astra guy (who has his phone stuck to his windscreen...) getting in the way, and normally I'd have also cropped out the Morrisons van on the right, but given what happened next I thought it best to include a 'before' shot.
