A somewhat rare opportunity came to be in Webster as we chased in which we had no cars behind us. I immediately recognized this as perfect pacing conditions since we would not be hindering anyone else's chase. N&W 611 makes its Lynchburg bound assault through Webster, Virginia, passing a set of classic Steam era N&W CPL's.

Putting on a show coming out of a stop for an HEP problem, the Eastbound return trip of the N&W 611 Greensboro-Roanoke excursions passes over the high trestle just East of Hardy, crossing the Smith Mountain Lake inlet.

I'm riding this train in one of the open window cars.

Seems to be a mix of trolley car designs in Budapest, even along the Jane Haining Rakpart--along the Pest riverfront downstream of the Chain Bridge. It reminds me of the streetcars in New Orleans.

Vor mittlerweile ziemlich genau 2 Jahren ist die Baureihe 611 komplett aus dem Verkehr ausgeschieden, nachdem 5 Exemplare noch ein Jahr lang eine Gnadenfrist bei der RAB nach dem planmäßigen Ende im Mai 2018 bekommen haben.

Auf dem Bild sind 611 020 und 045 im Juni 2019 als RE nach Ulm Hauptbahnhof bei Ehingen an der Donau zu sehen.

Southbound NECR 611 passes the Vermont Yankee switch at Vernon, Vermont.

Am Sonntagmorgen, bevor die Tagestouristen ankommen, ist es noch ruhig im oberen Donautal. Deshalb durchfährt 611 013 den Bahnhof Hausen im Tal auch ohne Halt in Richtung Sigmaringen. Über dem Tal liegt auf einem Felssporn das Schloss Werenwag.

On Sunday morning, before the tourists arrive, the upper Danube valley is calm and 611 013 passes through the station of Hausen im Tal without stop. Above the valley sits on a rock spur Werenwag Castle.

BB 18 West drags the N&W 611 and the excursion consist West at Goshen, VA, where the excursion train will be based for the next month, making excursion runs for the Virginia Scenic Railway. The ferry move took over 11 Hours to get from Roanoke, VA, to Goshen, VA.

The sunset shines on the side of the N&W 611 as she sits under steam at the North Carolina Trasnportation Museum. Once night fell, everyone's cameras would be clicking away for the night shoot, so it was nice to take a moment and get a sunset shot that not many others got. It was also nice to see her under steam one last time in 2019. Who knows what, if any, plans will be had for her next year.
