U-BOOT TYP VII C - 1/38 (minifig) scale with full interior.
~ 177 CM (~70 INCH) LONG
~ 15.000 PARTS
~ 4.5 YEARS OF WORK
GOALS
The model was supposed to represent a ship from the initial period of the war.
It does not show a specific copy, but it should resemble uboots such as U-69 or U-96 (known from the classic Das Boot movie).
I wanted to get a fairly good representation of both the curves of the hull and as many pieces of internal equipment as possible.
MODEL CHARACTERISTICS
It consists of 6 modules that naturally represent the 6 sections of a real ship:
1. The forward torpedo room and crew compartment [Bow: ~ 3600 parts]
2. Officers', radio and listening room [Front mess: ~ 2000 parts]
3. Control room with conning tower [Control room: ~ 2700 parts]
4. Petty Officers' romm and galley [Rear mess: ~ 1700 parts]
5. Diesel engines room [Diesels: ~ 2400 parts]
6. Electric engines and aft torpedo room [Stern: ~ 2800 parts]
In each module, the port and / or starboard can be removed.
So the entire model can represent the ship from the outside or with an open interior.
The target configuration is with the starboard closed and the port open.
I finally made two photo sessions of the entire model - in a fully closed configuration and with a closed starboard and open port side.
Adittionally I have prepared presentation of individual modules separately.
[b][CONSTRUCTION][/b]
The construction was planned to be made in sections and I started from the control room.
Each module was first designed in LDD (first the hull, then the interior) and then built in reality.
The modules were created in this order:
3. Control room
2. Front mess
1. Bow
4. Rear mess
5. Diesels
6. Stern
Designing started on 26.12.2017.

"It lumbered slobberingly into sight and gropingly squeezed Its gelatinous green immensity through the black doorway.... The stars were right again, and what an age-old cult had failed to do by design, a band of innocent sailors had done by accident. After vigintillions of years great Cthulhu was loose again, and ravening for delight."

Steam tram locomotive ZE 607 (Henschel 6848/1904) hauls a long train at Lake Valkenburg near Leiden.
At their peak in the 1930s, the Netherlands had almost 2000 kilometres of narrow-gauge steam tramway lines, where were officially simplified local railways.
Motive power came almost exclusively in the form of recangular steam tram locomotives such as ZE 607 depicted here. It originally worked on the 750mm gauge Zutphen - Emmerik steam tramway, which crossed the Dutch-German border. It has been converted to 700mm gauge in order to run on the museum railway at Leiden, Netherlands.
The passenger coaches have been build by the museum railway and are not original, yet more or less resembling steam tramway coaches. The postal van at the back is original and used to run on the 1067mm gauge OSM network.
VIA 605/607 for northern Quebec is passing Wellington Tower in Montreal. At Hervey Jct this train will split, with the lead F40 and two cars going to Jonquière and the other half going to Senneterre.

APH528T was a Bedford YLQ / Duple Dominant C35F purchased new by Chivers of Elstead in May 1979, then Nicoll of Laurenckirk in July 1981. Peacock t/a Lowland Coaches of Danderhall acquired it in October 1992, before it passed to Eve Coaches of Dunbar in September 1984. It then moved to Ian Glass of Haddington in April 1986, then Lowland Omnibuses in May 1991 with the business.
I think I can count 3 occasions over the past 20 years where Ive actually needed to be tow back home after a breakdown with a bus. Arriva Yorkshire Olympian 607 B607UUM was on borrowed time by this occasion and had been having gearbox problems for several weeks. I had nursed her to Leeds with no problems (I really enjoyed driving these Olympians correctly) but she fail to select any gears at traffic lights and after restarting and 'toggling' the gears several times (how many can remember doing that ?) she wouldnt budge. Rather than blocking the whole of Leeds of I manage to roll it back onto a bus stop and await recovery. Sadly this to be its last day in service. She was towed back to Belle Isle and dumped. A few weeks later she made her final journey for scrap. A sad loss
