The E656.607 pushes the regional train n. 2051 from Torino Porta Nuova to La Spezia Centrale, here in transit in Zoagli.
Railpro 607 is bezig met grind voor het nieuwe NS opstelterrein wat in 2023 klaar zou moeten zijn. Het komt te liggen in een onbebouwde strook naast het bestaande goederen opstelterrein. Je ziet helemaal rechts op de foto ook al een deel van een boven portaal staan.

Leyland B21/Alexander (Belfast) N-type B53F

The Leyland B21 was an export-only chassis but several remained in the UK and all ended up being operated by Ipswich Buses. Four were bought new in 1985 from a cancelled export order and later joined by the batch operated by Citybus in Belfast. Aptly named 'Bristolian' as it was badged as a Bristol, by 1999 number 147 had been converted to single-door and given the registration WOI 607 from one of the ex-Belfast vehicles.
On the once an hour diversion around the Riverside area of the Beeston Rylands, this section was added in 2013 when Premiere went under and the D2000 ceased to operate.
607 doubles back on itself, with an 18 to Stapleford via Beeston and Bramcote Village.

Another of the exotic Arctic birds: The Arctic Ptarmigan looks like a large chicken, but with very good flight skills. This bird turned out to be very skittish. There was a spot near a rock in the middle of a large open field that it seemed to like – it kept going back to that spot. But every time we approached within a 100m, it would fly away.
Used QScript ( www.lagers.org.uk/qscript/ ) for computing height of polygons using Gaussian distribution ( fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fonction_gaussienne ) with polygon centroid distance to scene center as input.The script is evaluated from a simple text area.

Each of us comes to terms with our past in our own unique way. Nowhere is this more apparent than in those who have experienced a traumatic past and have had to devise a way to live with it.
This interesting encounter started with a bicycle. I passed him while riding my bike in Toronto’s east end. I couldn’t help turning my head and calling out “Great bike!” He smiled and thanked me. We both slowed to a stop and stepped out of traffic onto the sidewalk where I admired his bike and asked if he would mind my photographing it. He seemed pleased by my interest and told me there was a story behind his unique bicycle. He wasn’t kidding. I was to be amazed at the story that unfolded. Meet Frank.
Frank was born and raised in Toronto but the family has its roots in Italy. He went on to tell me he built the bike from scratch, starting with the frame. The project was a mission to create a version of the bicycle he would have liked to receive as a gift from his father – but never did. He told the story of accidentally breaking a window playing street hockey before turning 5. His sister advised him to lie to their father about it but Frank said he was going to tell him the truth because that is what he had been taught to do. He told his father and was promptly beaten. “My father was an abusive man” he said.
“From that day on, I committed myself to telling the truth. My grandmother supported me in this and explained that on the day of reckoning we will all be judged by the principles we have lived by.” Frank went on to explain how he wove a complex fabric in his young mind which incorporated aspects of comic books he had read and ideas which had come into his mind, all of them directed toward the belief that on the day of his father’s death, his father would suddenly come to know Frank as the good boy he was, filled with honorable intentions. “My father never really knew who I was while he was alive and I wanted him to leave life with the knowledge that I’m a good man.”
In his mind, Frank came to believe that if certain natural events were to take place some day in the future, they would be an indication that his father had died and that in dying he had more clearly seen his son as the true person he was. These events came to pass and when he got the phone call notifying him of his father’s death he answered “I know.” There was no trace of bitterness as Frank talked about his abusive past and the father who never made the effort to know him.
In adulthood, Frank, who is now 51, set about making for himself the bike he wished for as a child of 5. He carefully pieced together parts and decorations that reflect what he remembers feeling and seeing at age 5, including a label “Falcon” which was a popular car in his childhood, a familiar tail light, a Volkswagen logo, a “Junior Firefighter” sticker, and a picture of a superhero. He put a lot of thought into the decorations he felt would appeal to a young boy. He could describe where each part and each decoration came from and showed me the tattoos on his arm which reflect significant aspects of his childhood experience.
Frank was pleased by my interest in his story and I was impressed at the way he had found his own way to make sense of his difficult childhood. He said some people find his story “crazy” but he said there is nothing crazy about making lemonade out of lemons. He is currently facing a health crisis and is on medical leave from his job as a courier. He faces a series of radiation treatments in the near future and is hoping for the best.
Meanwhile, he is riding his “magical mystery bicycle” around the neighborhood and enjoying one of Tornto’s first beautiful fall days. "Because of my medical situation, I'm trying to do more healthy things to make myself stronger."
The photos were taken in a laneway next to a coffee shop across the street from where we first met. I needed to get us out of the strong September sunlight. The photos were actually the briefest part of this fascinating encounter.
