Standing in the yard of the Nottingham City Transport garage at Gotham is driver training Scania Omnicity 852 (FG52 WFT), 5th June 2019. FG52 WFT was delivered new to Nottingham City Transport in December 2002 and allocated the fleet number 508. It entered the training fleet around 2012 and has at sometime since I last photographed this vehicle in June 2017 been renumbered 852.
"New York is an ugly city, a dirty city. Its climate is a scandal, its politics are used to frighten children, its traffic is madness, its competition is murderous. But there is one thing about it —once you have lived in New York and it has become your home, no place is good enough" (John Steinbeck)

Ivy Bridge over the River Coiltie, and our only route in and out from home, fortunately it spans the river with its base on bedrock on either side so should, hopefully, withstand quite a lot of "weather"!
I thought I would try a different approach to this one today whilst pausing on the school run. It has been "a day" and I am utterly done for! On the plus side though, I do have my own car back from the garage!
An Off 5th (AKA Saks Fifth Avenue Outlet) store at Great Lakes Crossing...
The massive, approximately 1,400,000 square foot, Great Lakes Crossing Outlets was opened on Novemeber 12th 1998. Taubman developed this mall after a plan by Mills to build "Auburn Mills" on the site fell through. Great Lakes Crossing is obviously a Mills inspired mall. The original anchors of the mall were Bass Pro Shops, JCPenney Outlet, Burlington Coat Factory, Sportmart, and Star Theatres. Of those main anchors, JCPenney Outlet closed and Sportmart (another source says it may have been Oshman's) became Sports Authority. A number of mid-size anchor stores such as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Group USA, Saks Off Fifth Outlet, Lord & Taylor Outlet, Neiman Marcus Last Call, SeaLife aquarium, Forever 21, and Bed Bath & Beyond are also found at this mall.
The mall appears to be doing very well based on how I saw it. I only noticed a handful of vacancies and most of those vacancies appear to have happened within the months prior to my visit. The largest vacancy at the mall was a former Toby Keith's I Love This Bar And Grill location, which closed in late 2015. The mall also seemed to have heavy foot-traffic and full parking lots. I was planning to eat here as well but all the tables in the food court had people at them and the full service restaurants, like Rainforest Cafe, all had waits. This is a little departure from me covering mostly dead or dying malls. I thought it was odd to see a mall with an aquarium in it as well!

A view of 5th avenue looking north taken from the top of the Empire State Building at sunset.
The buildings were desaturated and a warming filter was applied, I like the tone it gives them. Hope you like it too!

(BnW Scan) I completed 5 tintypes in my workshop with Jon Slade this past weekend. This was the final one (and best overall). I was really proud of this one from pouring the plate to development to varnishing it.

25153 has just got the road to the carriage sidings from Nottingham station, 5th July 1979.
Locomotive History
25153 was originally D7503 and was delivered from Derby works in October 1964 to the Nottingham Division (Toton). The high level decision to withdraw the Western Region diesel hydraulic fleet required their replacement by a variety of other locomotive classes and in August 1971 5179 arrived at Laira for crew training to enable class 25 locomotives to replace the NBL Class 22 locomotives. Over the next few months class 25 locomotives started to be transferred to Laira and in January 1972 a batch of eight (7502-7509) arrived from the London Midland Region. It would not remain at Laira long and by October 1972 it had transferred to Cardiff Canton and became a Bristol engine during 1974. As can be seen by the bodyside numbers 25153 received its last classified repair and repaint at Glasgow works (although this repair did not include dual brake equipment and it remained vacuum brake only). By the 1980’s 25153 was back on the London Midland Region and was withdrawn in April 1983. After storage at Cricklewood 25153 moved to Swindon works and was broken up in February 1987.
