Hundreds of motorists were treated to a cacophony of sound as they wound their way home, along the Sunshine Coast Highway past Conservative MP John Weston's constituency office in Sechelt, B.C. today. Over 100 concerned Canadians from the Sunshine Coast turned out to participate in today's 'Make Some Noise To Divide The Budget'action from 4:45 to 5:30 pm beating pots, pans, and drums, ringing bells, shaking shakers and blowing makeshift horns of plastic water pipe. For 45 minutes the sounds of automobile horns blended with and augmented the sidewalk chorus with friendly waves from both the sideway and passing vehicles. The action concluded with a statement from Jamie Biggar of Leadnow.ca read to the crowd by a local organizer and several sing along songs, finishing with a heartfelt singing of Oh Canada. The extensive local newspaper coverage in the past week over the June 2nd Blackmark Budget protest, which drew about 200 people, left no doubt in any minds why the sidewalk display was taking place.
Me & Storm (my Honda Civic Sedan LX 2019) enjoying a nice t-storm in Tracy, CA. Constant rumbles of thunder was heard. This is why I love to chase! This was during my storm chase outing to the Central Valley this day of May 30, 2020... This unusually active weather was thanks to a late-season low pressure system that drifted in from the Pacific. Even the PNW saw widespread t-storms which was quite unusual for the region. Anyway, here’s my story: I started my storm chase late morning & stopped in Lathrop to wait for storms to pop up. A brief storm developed around Tracy just after noon & I chased that storm but wasn’t spectacular. A cop stopped just to check on me (since I was on the side of a rural road). Soon after, a cluster of t-storms developed near Patterson, so I headed south on I-580\I-5. Some thunder & lightning was witnessed with the storms & even a mini microburst was seen (blowing dust). Then, more t-storms popped up near Tracy & then I hurried back north. I stopped on the side on I-580 to see the storms from afar (and another cop stopped & checked on me). He said I can’t stop here & told me to exit (which I did shortly after). This was when the climax of my chase occurred… Lots of lightning, constant thunder, Midwest-like skies were seen around Tracy, CA. It was just after 3 p.m. at the time. After witnessing nature’s awesomeness around the southwestern outskirts of Tracy, I then ‘punched the core’ and headed back on I-205 eastbound. I was headed to Lathrop to try to see how things looked ahead of the storm but I was caught in traffic (due to an accident). At least this gave me more time to enjoy the good amount of lightning still occurring within the storms. The storms subsided by 4 p.m. & called it a day & headed back home, avoiding the streets before dark due to the ongoing craziness (protests & shelter in place orders). ‘Til next time, stay safe out there!
