L’arrondissement, en collaboration avec la Table de quartier Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Mercier-Ouest Quartier en Santé, Solidarité Mercier-Est et leurs démarches en saines habitudes de vie, et le CSSS Lucille-Teasdale, invitent les citoyens à devenir champions de leur santé en participant au Défi Santé organisé par Capsana, du 1er mars au 11 avril 2015.
Dans le cadre du Défi Santé, une trentaine de personnes ont participé à une activité de danse éclair au centre Domaine le 12 mars.

So these photos have a story...
Last year, we were out with friends at an outdoor concert enjoying the picnic food that N. had made-- it was very yummy. He took a year off from work and was building a kayak, learning to make homemade bread, cooking new recipes in addition to much more. His wife and I got chatting about how great it was to have husbands that enjoyed to cook. Somehow our convo turned to the food network and then the iron chef show. After a few glasses of wine, we had planned an iron chef cook off between the two guys. Our first cook off had a hawaiian theme and was a great success -- so we had round two this summer with an asian fusion theme.
The guys definitely have fun with this as you can see, Craig is wearing his chef's jacket and hat. N. made appetizers and a side while Craig was in charge of the main course and dessert. N. brought 8 different handmade gyoza's each one with a unique filling that we had to guess the ingredients. They started as traditional fillings and he also got quite creative-- one with berries, ginger and goat cheese.
We ate very well this evening with barely room for dessert. This was Craig's creation--- ringo bakudan (japanese for apple bombs). He invented the title and then called our japanese friend for the translation. So he marinated fresh rhubarb from the garden in sugar and spices. Then carved out fugi apples to fill with the rhubarb compote and wrapped the apple in fresh pie crust dough to bake. It was then finished with drizzled dark chocolate. It was delicious. He is the master--- our own Iron Chef!
