University Club of MSU
The Big Bang-quet Challenge is a program designed to raise money for several dozen deserving, established charities in our community while enhancing the University Club's image and name recognition throughout the area. Club members are invited to nominate their favorite charities (that meet specified criteria) and participants are selected from these nominees. The charities are provided with a DVD "toolkit" of promotional materials to use in spreading the word about their participation. Participants urge their supporters to "vote" for them (a "vote" is a $5 donation to the charity) by visiting the University Club's website, where all participating charities are posted with drop-down menus for multiple votes, purchased through a credit card charge. Every charity receives a percentage of the "vote" money raised for that organization, and three charities receive gift certificates ($10,000 Grand Prize and two $5,000 runner up prizes) toward a fundraising event at the University Club. Now in its third year, this program has brought several new members and significant banquet business to the Club. It has also served to significantly enhance the public's awareness of the University Club and reinforce positive impressions of the Club.
