Lake Creek Falls, near Triangle Lake, Oregon, has been a popular swimming and picnicking spot since the early 1900's. However, swimming in the swift, shallow water near the falls can be extremely risky. Visitors are encouraged to use extreme caution at all times.
In the fall and winter, this site is a great spot to catch the amazing show put on by Coho and Chinook salmon and steelhead as they migrate upstream to spawn. In 1989, the Bureau of Land Management built a concrete fish ladder at this site, opening up more than 110 miles of stream habitat to fish.

The first wing is nearly finished. And unfortunately shows a huge problem: Stability
This wing is absolutely unstable and braking apart as soon as you lift it. I came to the conclusion that it will be impossible to build the model 100% the same like it is showed in the movie. The physics there are different ;-)
I am now searching and trying ways of stabilizing the 4 parts it exists of with more connections... open for suggestions!

First photo of 2017, the sun was just in the right place for this one, i waited and waited for a clear sunny day without no rain for this and 14th of January was the day! The 54 was originally run by the great company Black Prince which went form Ireland Wood - Morley Asda, but the route was lost when sold out to First bus. In 2015 First brought back the 54 running for Leeds - Batley.
Across the top of the Large Bath are 9 statues of Roman Emperors and Governor who had something to do with the legions in Britain. This is Claudius, was Roman Emperor from AD 41 to AD 54. A member of the Julio-Claudian dynasty. He was born at Lugdunum in Gaul, the first (and until Trajan, the only) Roman Emperor to be born outside Italy.

Over the last year and a half, I have been collecting images of the Mount St. Helens eruption as it happened on May 18, 1980. These have been through the collection of slides, and television screenshots.
Last night, I wrapped up a seven-month-long project digitizing the famous Gary Rosenquist sequence, frame-by-frame.
This was accomplished by capturing screenshots of the sequence from a high-resolution copy of a Mount St. Helens documentary aired on the 10th anniversary of the eruption. Those screenshots, combined with other documentary usage of the first two in the sequence as well as the last, were then refined in Topaz Photo AI to "digitally" enhance each image in the sequence.
I then merged the 4:3 aspect ratio original sequence images with a wide-angle image of the peak taken at 8:27 a.m. to produce the first (somewhat) high-definition look into the spectacular sequence Gary Rosenquist captured on that Sunday in May, 1980.
Time scales (which are close to approximate) and frame letter designations, are derived from Page 81 of USGS Professional Paper 1250, titled "The 1980 Eruptions of Mount St. Helens Volcano, Washington State." (an 800-page essay into the entire eruptive cycle). An entire chapter is dedicated in that paper, to Rosenquist's sequence, how they were taken, and the time scale derived from cloud morphology in a videotape of the eruption by Ed Hinkle taken at Silver Lake, and by testimony of Keith and Dorothy Stoffel (who were in a light aircraft over the summit when the eruption began).
These images are protected by copyright, and copyright is © 1980 Gary Rosenquist. They are posted here under the Fair Use Clause of United States copyright law for the purpose of commentary, and to foster continued interest in Mount St. Helens.
This represents the entire sequence of images Rosenquist captured on May 18, 1980, with the exception of Frame W (not present in the documentary for purposes of screen capture), and the frame preceding the capture at 8:39 a.m., as he was fleeing Bear Meadow.
The blurry streaks on lower right corner of frame Y are condensation streaks from the defroster vent of Joel Harvey's Datsun, per interviews I've done with Rosenquist.
The bird feeder I got just after Christmas is now getting regular visitors - this little robin being one of them. The starlings, however, have somewhat monopolised it, and have scared the robin away most days. :(
I'm still having to put bird seed on the shed roof for the pigeons, otherwise they try to perch on the feeder - for which they are far too big.
Not a great shot, but I'm just so happy we now have a robin visiting us. My entry for No.54 - View From The Window, in 111 in 2011.

Hojas de hasta 40 cm, glaucas, glabras o muy a menudo ciliadas en los nervios o márgenes; las inferiores, pecioladas, liradas, con 2-5 pares de segmentos laterales enteros y uno terminal mucho mayor, irregularmente dentado; las superiores, sésiles o subamplexicaules, oblongo-lanceoladas, enteras. Racimos de 20-60 flores; éstas, en el momento de abrirse, no sobrepasan a los botones aún cerrados del ápice del racimo. Pedicelos de 12-18 mm en la antesis, poco mayores en la fructificación. Sépalos 5-10 mm, erecto-patentes, glabros. Pétalos 8-18 mm, amarillos. Nectarios medianos ovoides. Usos
Se cultiva por todo el mundo para producir forraje, aceite vegetal para consumo humano y biodiésel. Los principales productores son la Unión Europea, Canadá, Estados Unidos, Australia, China y la India. En la India ocupa un 13% del suelo cultivable. Según el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos, la colza era la tercera fuente de aceite vegetal en 2000, tras la soja, y la palma, además de la segunda fuente mundial de comida proteínica, aunque su importancia sea sólo una
quinta parte de la soja. En Europa, se cultiva principalmente para alimentar el ganado (por su alto contenido en lípidos y contenido medio en proteínas).2
Uso culinario
El aceite de colza, en estado natural, contiene ácido erúcico C22:1 y glucosinolatos que son medianamente tóxicos en dosis altas. Ha habido dudas sobre el verdadero origen de las intoxicaciones ocurridas en España. Oficialmente se considera que la causa de la enfermedad fue la ingesta de aceite de colza desnaturalizado con anilina importado para uso industrial, además ha sido posible demostrar que existe una predisposición genética a la intoxicación con aceite de colza desnaturalizado.
Un conjunto de variedades con niveles menores de ácido erúcico y de glucosinolatos se obtuvieron en Canadá y se le dio el nombre de canola (acrónimo en inglés de Canadian Oil Low Acid, aceite canadiense bajo en ácido); luego este nombre se ha aplicado indistintamente a variedades cultivadas de colza, sin importar sus niveles de ácido.
En Chile, el aceite de colza se usó indiscriminadamente y cuando se descubrió, en los años 80, el papel que jugaba en el crecimiento infantil se empezaron a cultivar híbridos con menor contenido de ácido erúcico hasta llegar desde un 54% a un 3% de C22:1.
La semilla es la parte útil de la silicua. El proceso de obtención de aceite deja como residuo un pienso animal, medianamente rico en proteínas, que compite con la soja. Este pienso se utiliza principalmente para el ganado bovino, aunque también para alimentar cerdos y pollos.
Propiedades
Indicaciones: es antiescorbútico, resolvente. El aceite es laxante. Usado en casos de artritis.
El primer esteroide con actividad hormonal aislado de una fuente natural fue el brassinólido, en 1979 a partir del nabo silvestre Brassica napus.

P-54, a three-year old mountain lion living in the Santa Monica Mountains, recently gave birth to a litter of kittens – males P-82 and P-83, and female P-84. Researchers believe this is her first litter.
It’s always good news to discover a new litter of kittens, but biologists are hopeful for another reason: the presumed father, male mountain lion P-63, may have just brought something that is much needed into the Santa Monica Mountains – genetic diversity.
More than four months ago, P-63, the only adult male radio-collared mountain lion living in the Santa Monica Mountains, was repeatedly “located” with P-54 over two days, which is generally an indication of a mating interaction. Approximately 90 days later, researchers noticed a series of localized GPS locations indicating that either P-54 was feeding at a kill site or that she had given birth.
This may also be the first time that P-63 has fathered kittens.

On Sunday October 7th, I ran the Bank of America Chicago Marathon which was celebrating its 35th anniversary. This was my 4th marathon since 2010, having completed events in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
Crossing the finish line, I was extremely thrilled with my time of 3:48:54, a personal record by over 4 minutes. I also placed 8,191 out of 45,000 runners registerd for the 26 mile race (42.2 km).
I truly enjoyed the Chicago Marathon with its flat course, running through 29 distinct neighborhoods and the approximately 1.7 million spectators cheering throughout the entire course. I can't say enough about how well this race was organized. I'm also very grateful for the family support I received during my training and preparing for this race.
