Today, it is the agora in Konak district of Izmir, founded in the 4th century BC. It functioned as the state agora of the city of Smyrna in its time. After the earthquake in 178 AD, it was rebuilt with the support of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. During the Ottoman period, it was used as a cemetery and prayer hall. The first excavations in the area were carried out in 1932. In 2020, Izmir Agora was included on the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO as part of the heritage site created under the name "Izmir Historical Port City." In October 2023, a 700-meter-long promenade was built at the ruins.
I took this photo from Kits Beach with my friend Kiyoshi just after sunset. While waiting for the 3 1/2 minute exposure, I had a great time talking to another Flickr friend of ours, Hirochi, whom we ran into on the beach just moments before.

My 2½ year old son is crazy about trains so we went to the Christmas event at Sporvejsmuseet Skjoldenæsholm (Danish Tram Museum). Recommended for all other nerds out there.

Macro Mondays #InsideElectronics
7DWF: Anything Goes
Height of the frame: 5,4 cm / 2,1 inches
In the year 2112, Starship Cygnus X-1, Rush category, the flagship of the X-Cans fleet, silently orbits planet Samba on an Amazing Journey through the Musical Fidelity Universe. It is on a five-year mission to explore new musical worlds, to seek out new sounds no woman or man has ever heard before...
The subject was a rather "simple" one, because the only easily accessible "Inside Electronics" parts I had were these old tubes that used to be inside of my headphone amplifier. They are made of glass (of course) so you can see what's inside of them; making it a "double peek", if you like - an inside view of something that used to be inside of an electronic device ;-). I always wanted to use these tubes for a photo. The idea was to make it appear like a spaceship. Ever since the new tubes were installed, the amplifier sounds crappy (so I don't use it anymore; but it's 20 years old, so it's probably time for a new one...). I wasn't aware that the type of tubes can make such a difference in sound...
A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!
Das Universum der Musik... Unendliche Weiten.

A rather severe 8:5 crop from a ~427,9MP 360° IR panorama, yet still 62,4MP, with the classic 720nm development, white foliage and blue sky.
I just realized that a lot of my photos depict some kind of fence.. 📷

Yesterday, the wedding went off without a hitch.
Well, not quite true.
They got hitched.
The weather held true to this last month's form, clear and bright.
Amazingly, there was just a pleasant breeze rather than gale force wind.
There wasn't any wildfire haze.
We were able to commandeer the location at the university our son wanted.
We didn't run afoul of any Pandemic Police.
There were only nine guests. All wore masks. All the various family groups kept distanced.
It was great!
The bride was beautiful.
She and our son got through their vows without too much stammering or obvious nerves.
All of Kim's hard work getting things organized paid off.
She slept well last night!
This morning we treated ourselves to a brief visit to the botanic gardens.
This week will probably be filled with posts peering between branches, looking through slats and various other forms of "shooting through" as that is the theme of the week at The Photo Forum's weekly challenge.
On the tide line @ Brancaster this morning. NE strong wind had produced a higher tide than predicted. Kept the crowds away though

Buttongrass moorland from the Horse Track, Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park, Tasmania.
Buttongrass (Gymnoschoenus sphaerocephalus) belongs to the sedge family. It thrives in extremely poor soil and is quite fire adapted. This particular piece of moor is pretty sparse. There are other much denser expanses of buttongrass plain in Tasmania and they form important habitats for significant numbers of native fauna.
In summer the grass goes a deep golden brown but in autumn the greens come through much stronger. Relatively bare patches are a form of heath.
