Post Card sent to Miss V Byng, 326 Hither Green Lane, Lewisham dated 23rd April 1908.
Miss V. Byng was Vera Grace Bulkley- Byng born Vera Grace Bulkley on 23rd November 1890 at Lambeth she was the daughter of Francis David Bulkley and Alice Catherine Maywood who had married 25th January 1891 at Balham Hill Ascension.
Francis David Bulkley was a Musician the son of David Bulkley, an Actor. He was born in 1866 in Dublin, Ireland. He seems to have used the name Bulkley-Byng or just Byng from at least 1891. In the 1891 census he is listed as Frank Buckley or Byng. In the 1901 and 1911 census he is using Bulkley-Byng. The 1911 census shows them at 326 Hither Green Lane, Lewisham.
Her brother, Francis Cecil A Bulkley was a Musician and married Charlotte Annie Ashton at Wandsworth, Surrey in 1930. He became a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music. He died 4th March 1958 at Wimbledon, Surrey.
Vera never married and lived at Herne Bay, Kent until her death in 1982 at the age of 91.

A 12th century fortification which didn't actually last very long as a working castle before being "slighted"; it was later restored a bit (I think that the tower may come from a later period), but then much of the stone seems to have been swiped in the 18th century. This is basically the old structural core.
