The background picture
Help me out my learned friends. I do not claim to be any kind of expert on English royalty nor historic English architecture. Likewise I will not “copy and paste” information about the background picture being used in this artwork. I “believe” this is a picture of Windsor Castle which I downloaded from the internet several years ago. If, in fact, the castle in this picture is Windsor Castle, I do not know, nor have I been able to obtain from which location this picture was taken but it is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful views what with the English garden adorning the grounds. (And, no, Google Earth was of no help. It does not - or did not for me anyway, show a ground level elevation of Windsor Castle). I was never able to determine the identity of the photography, henceforth, the lacking of attribution.
The car
Well the car I know a little more about. I took several picture of this impeccably restored 1937 MG SA 4-door Sport Saloon at the 2019 Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance this past August.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The MG SA was produced from 1936 through 1939. It was originally known as the 2-liter, but its name was later changed to the SA. During its production lifespan, 2739 examples were produced. The SA was intended to be a sporty model, capable of rivaling other sports cars from marque's such as Bentley.
A prototype car was designed in 1935. The merger between MG and Morris Motors in the same year had development coming to a halt, before a production version was realized. The project resumed a short while later, but the design was not the same. It had become more conservative and practical. Under the hood was a Morris QPHG six-cylinder engine that displaced 2062cc's. The engine was given special tuning which resulted in an increase in displacement to 2322cc. There was a four-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on the top two ratios. The front was suspended in place by a beam front axle and a conventional live axle. Hydraulically operated Lockheed drum brakes were used to keep the car in the driver's control. Wire wheels could be found on all four corners.
When the car made its debut, it was available with only a few options, such as a Philco radio and an alternate body style. The optional body was a saloon configuration and made by Morris. It had four-doors and traditional MG styling consisting of large chrome plated headlights and traditional grille. There was seating for four with the rear being a bench and the front being individual seats. The trim was made mostly from walnut. The spare tire was carried on the vehicles boot.
As the years progressed, additional options and bodystyles were added. A Tickford drophead coupe body appeared in 1936, which had coachwork by Salmons. An optional four-door tourer was added the following month, in July, with coachwork by Charlesworth.
The successor to the SA was supposed to be the WA. The onset of World War II, and the fact that the WA had been produced alongside the SA since 1938, had the WA being produced for only a short while. The SA sat atop a 123 inch wheelbase and most were in four-door configuration. The biggest export market for the SA proved to be Germany.

It may not show but I put more time and effort into this (the car) than may seem - probably “too much” time and effort! In any event, hope you’all enjoy………….
The 195757 is now considered to be the quintessential Bel Air. The car was just the right mix of style, performance and had an appealing price tag. It was a huge hit in showrooms, and was even a much bigger technical achievement than it usually gets credit for.

Very often when I was in the kitchen, I had a fabulous view on the traffic. The red light was long enough to go for the camera and take a picture.
I cannot find a lot about this Découvrable version of the Vedette. Wikipedia seems to call it a landaulet named Sunliner, but that also doesn't bring a lot of information. I think it is a standard factory conversion.
Turns out the Vedette club was having their biannual trip together, a small report can be found on their website: clubvedettefrance.fr/portfolio-items/sortie-nationale-de-...

Here is the high performance version of the XF named XFR-S. It uses the same 5l Turbocharged V8 which is used in the XKR and it's limited to 300 km/h. Up to date, this must be the sportiest Jaguar saloon ever made.

The Plaza was Plymouth's entry-level car during those years and was priced under the Plymouth Savoy. It was offered in sedan, coupe and wagon variants. Known as Plymouth's "Price Leader", in 1958 the Plaza offered buyers the widest choice of options to date.
Like most models of its kind in the 1950s and 1960s, the Plaza—with its minimal trim and plain cloth-and-vinyl upholstery, and limited option choices—saw most of its appeal toward fleet buyers, such as police departments, where luxury and comfort were not primary concerns. However, the model was available to budget-conscious private consumers who wanted or needed the room of a full-sized automobile and the availability of such items as a V-8 engine and automatic transmission.

Continuing my Southern Arizona Adventure 2024 and continuing my visit to Bisbee Arizona. This is stage 7 of 9.
I arrived just a little before the original Bisbee Breakfast Club opened so I walked around Erie Street. Then I ate a Harvest Omelette with egg whites at BBC. Then I walked around Erie Street a little more.
Lots of memories for me since I grew up in Arizona in the 1950's. Miami & Globe Arizona were a lot like Lowell.
1954 Ford Country Sedan 4 door Wagon V8
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Country_Sedan
The Ford Country Sedan is a full-size station wagon that was built by Ford in the United States from 1952 until 1974. It was part of the U.S. Ford full-size car line available in each year.[2][3]
The Country Sedan was the mid-trim station wagon in the U.S. Ford range. Unlike the Country Squire, the Country Sedan featured plain body sides. As a full-size wagon, it could carry up to 9 passengers, if so equipped. For every year it was sold, regardless of the model line it was aligned with, the Country Sedan outsold the more exclusive Country Squire due to the more modest standard and optional equipment included while using the same powertrain of the more expensive version.[2]
The Country Sedan was part of the Ford Customline range from 1952 to 1954. Beginning in 1955, Ford moved their station wagons into their own series and the Country Sedan continued to represent the mid-trim level station wagon. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Country Sedan was approximate to the Galaxie and later the Galaxie 500 in trim elements.[4] For 1972, 1973 [5] and 1974 the model was marketed as the Galaxie 500 Country Sedan and from 1975 it was rebranded LTD wagon. By this time the trim level was identical to the Country Squire apart from the absence of simulated wood exterior paneling.

Erie Street, Historic Lowell
Bisbee, Arizona
A living snapshot of a different time in America is preserved and maintained by a community of volunteers.
Visiting Erie Street is like walking into a 1950s post-apocalyptic landscape. From all that is immediately apparent, it could have been abandoned in a hurry and forgotten for half a century. Rusting cars, trucks, and an old Greyhound bus sit deserted along the street as if their passengers had suddenly vanished (or worse).
Erie Street is most of what is left of Lowell, Arizona, a mining town incorporated into Bisbee in the early 1900s. Much of the town’s residential area was demolished to widen an open-pit copper mine. Losing most of its residents caused the commercial district to struggle, and many businesses failed as a result. Today, the street’s special curiosities include a Harley Davidson repair shop with a now-defunct gas pump and Sprouse Reitz Co., a department store that is nearly empty except for a few appliances and a whole pile of mannequin parts.
Despite appearing untouched since its decline, further investigation reveals that Erie Street is continually restored by a vibrant and passionate community of residents and volunteers who want to remember a different America. So although you can no longer see a show at Lowell’s movie theater or pay $0.22 for gasoline, the Lowell Americana Project has made it possible to experience the street as a living snapshot of another time. And not everything on Erie Street is purely decorative—visit the Bisbee Breakfast Club for an excellent Huevos Rancheros.

Lowell, Arizona was once a sizable mining town located just to the southeast of Bisbee. Today, it is a small neighborhood of the larger community.
Though the majority of the original townsite was consumed by the excavation of the Lavender Pit mine during the 1950s, what remains today is a photographer’s dream. The one street that is left features mid-century buildings, signs, and artifacts in a colorful display that makes visitors feel as if they have taken a step back in time.
Haiku thoughts:
Erie Street lingers,
Ghosts of fifties' laughter hum,
Time stands in still frames.
