On this day Eureka and Glenbrook teamed up to pull a photo train from Antonito, Colorado, to Big Horn and return with several photo stops along the way. D&RG 425 was under steam at Antonito for equipment demonstrations.
Vor über 10 Jahren sollten die Hamsterbacken ihren Plandienst und somit den kompletten RB-Verkehr entlang der Mosel übernehmen, doch die Realität sah und sieht anders aus. Im ersten Jahr wurden die Fahrzeuge durch 425 aus dem Ruhrgebiet vertreten, ehe diese im Dezember 2010 durch lokbespannte Züge abgelöst wurden. Als dann Ende 2011 die ersten Fahrzeuge in Trier eintrafen, verschwanden die Ersatzgarnituren allmählich. Doch die Zuverlässigkeit der Hamster ließ zu wünschen übrig und so tauchten immer wieder Quietschies entlang der Mosel auf. Seit Dezember 2019 besteht allerdings ein "neues Problem": Die bislang dem Werk Trier für solche Verkehre zur Verfügung stehenden ET 425&426 wurden entweder an die Vlexx vermietet oder wurden anderwärtig gebraucht. Da mehrere Hamster aktuell zur Kur in Krefeld weilen, musste Ersatz her; in NRW beim Werk Essen fanden sich Fahrzeuge, die frei waren. Und so drehte am 25.04.2020 der Essener 425 025 seine Runden auf der Obermosel und erreicht gerade Palzem.

LA&L 425 is leading the morning train out of Lakeville, NY on August 17, 2010. This view is looking down from the ROW of the branch up to the Ag facility at Conesus Lake Jct. The LA&L used to turn the power occasionally which gave an opportunity for me to get different units leading the Northbound. Currently this practice is no longer done, as the wye where the power was turned is on the R&S. I'm not sure that the wye is even in use any more.

This bus infuriated me, I happened to come across it at Stratford Bus Station, and said it would be leaving in around 15 minutes, only then to find a 13-reg E400 came a long and subbed it!! Annoying to say the least.
Long time LA&L engineer Tim retired on April 30. We have had the pleasure of watching him for many years. When the kids were little, he set them up a few times with rides on the road train up to Avon. I had the pleasure of riding on a complete road train trip back in 2016. Here Tim is at the throttle of LA&L 425 while switching cars at Genesee Junction.

The third day of the Victorian Iron Horse Roundup featured a lineup of the four 19th Century "Iron Horses" at the Antonito terminal of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic. Additionally, Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 No. 20 made a test run from Antonito west towards Lava. There was no scheduled train service to Osier; Monday is the railroad's off day. In the evening a night photo session was held with lighting my Mike Shade.
