i was a lion today.
when i am with my mother, i am always a lion.
i protect her like it's my only job in life,
which is what i essentially see it as.
i drove her to another doctors appointment today where we received good & bad news.
the bad news that her chemo is delayed another week turned in to good news anyway, seeing as i wouldn't want to drive her up to buxmont in the morning in the snow.
today was stressful, it was emotional, it was busy.
but it was all worth it when she turns to me in the car, sleepy & worn out and tells me,
“i'm so glad you're here with me. i feel good, i'm happy. i had such a good time with you, sweet baby.”
i feel good, i feel proud.
because I am a lioness, and i protect my own.
He called her a melon, a pineapple, an olive tree, an emerald, and a fox in the snow all in the space of three seconds; he did not know whether he had heard her, tasted her, seen her, or all three together.

After the noodle soup a complementary bowl of jelly in ice water was served at Grandma’s Noodles. My favorite dessert in Thailand. I am not normally a dessert person, but this is just right after Thai food.
