WR HST FORMATIONS 1976/77/78 – HELP REQUIRED.
If you are viewing this photo and recorded WR HST formations during this period please get in touch via Flickr Mail. I am willing to negotiate payment for direct observations that are accurately dated (day/month/year) that detail power car and trailer formations of HST sets in traffic. Additional information such as location, service working also welcome if available. Observations of vehicles/sets on depots or works are also of use, as are those of sets on trial runs.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any assistance offered/provided would be much appreciated.

KJM WDP-4B #40010 pulls out of Chinchwad after a scheduled halt with 11030 Kolhapur - Mumbai Koyna Express
Best viewed Original size.
Bit of a mystery this one, I know it's a class 40 (possibly in green livery) and it's at Garforth near Leeds and I'm fairly sure is heading towards York, but I've no other information. Picture made Saturday 05/10/1974.
This could possibly be 40010 - see comment from "The Gang of 3" below.
Any comments gratefully received.

Class 40 D210 (40010) heads North through Grayrigg with a Liverpool-Glasgow express on 13th July 1963. 40010 was an early withdrawal being withdrawn in July 1981 from Kingmoor TMD and cut up at Swindon BREL in July 1983. Photo: Ivan Stewart Collection.

Locomotive History
40010 was built in 1959 and was originally D210. It was the first of the production run of English Electric Type 4’s, following on from the pilot series (D200 – D209) and was allocated to Willesden MPD for West Coast Main Line duties. Twenty five class 40’s carried the names of famous ocean going liners on cast brass plates and D210 was named Empress of Britian, with the nameplates being fitted in 1960. These nameplates began to be removed by British Rail during the 1970, as the class 40’s were no longer considered as front line passenger engines and they were also attracting unwanted interest from "collectors". 40010 would give twenty two years service before being withdrawn in July 1981. Following withdrawal it languished for two years before finally being broken up at Swindon works during July 1983.

JAAROVERZICHT 2024
-----
The first extensive photo day of the year took place in the Netherlands, specifically in June, as May didn’t offer many photo opportunities.
In Willemsdorp, we were unexpectedly treated to the sight of SBB Cargo's Goldpiercer leading a stunning container train heading toward the Port of Rotterdam. For me, it was one of the highlights of the year, which is now slowly coming to an end as we find ourselves on Christmas Day.
With that, I would like to wish all my followers a Merry Christmas!

....the buses, the route and the depot.
2016 saw the closure of First Potteries Newcastle-under-Lyme depot, following the latest round of service cuts no doubt influenced by the ageing fleet and lack of compliance with the impending PSVAR regulations. I understand for the mean time the depot remains with First, but merely for storage of withdrawn vehicles pending sale of the site.
Seen parked outside Newcastle depot in 2012 are three Optare Solo M850's (from Left to Right T164BBF (40011), W474SVT (40015), T163BBF (40010)) all of which were new to First Potteries and all of which are part of the long list of vehicles withdrawn as they fail to meet the PSVAR regulations.
The middle one seemingly last worked a 94A a route the was long ago abandoned with the area it serves completely abandoned by First earlier in 2015.
