2015 Found me experimenting with film. Film photography is expensive and frustrating. The cameras are mostly old and unreliable. But when the image comes out right it's magic and there is nothing digital that can compare.
This is inexpensive Fuji Superia 400 shot in an Olympus Pen FT half frame camera.
Working hard upgrade at Wales is this Minntac pellet train behind four tunnel motors (408, 400, 903, 404). Fighting clouds and high sun but this set was worth the drive to intercept. Thanks to SW for the heads up.

Conditions so good my two middle schoolers were happy to wake up early on the first day of winter break!
Kalitta putting on another great show this morning, heading back to SDF, handling seasonal volume for UPS. From an earlier post, it sounds like today might be one of the last visits of this particular aircraft for the year, I'm so happy I was finally able to catch it with Kid 1 and Kid 2!

Similar to Chevrolet’s Malibu-based SS 396 and to Pontiac’s LeMans-based GTO musclecars, Buick had their GS 400 version based upon their Skylark and Oldsmobile offered the 4-4-2 version of their Cutlass.
This one has already gathered a group of interested observers as the driver backs into an open parking space.

The 400 Tavern on 148th Street was open from the 1940s until sometime in the 1970s. All that is left on the outside is this neon sign.

taken with a Sigma 50-500mm handheld. This is my 400th upload to Flickr and it seems fitting to me. For the past year I have uploaded about a photo a day but I do not know if I can keep up that pace this year. Hopeful I will only post eye-pleasing photographs until I hit the 500 mark.

Here's another shot from my recent flight around the Cape Peninsula... showing the remains of the Boss 400 shipwreck in the lower right corner... the Sentinel peak and Hout Bay behind that... Chapman's Peak behind that... with Long Beach in the upper right-hand corner.
The Boss 400 was a crane barge that was stranded while being towed in July 1994. The captain of the tug towing the barge had radioed for assistance as he had realised his boat could not cope with the rough conditions. However the tugs sent to assist did not arrive in time. The line attaching the Boss 400 to her tug snapped, and the boat drifted on the rocks at Maori Bay. The 14 crew on board were airlifted to safety. There was an attempt to salvage the boat, but it was considered too damaged to be worthwhile.
