Liverpool Cathedral Church is the longest cathedral in the world, the 5th largest in the world that the largest in the UK. It is relatively young, being completed in 1978. It was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The Lady Chapel (pictured here) was the first part of the cathedral to be pictured and is actually larger than many parish churches.

I spend quite a large part of my life choosing, testing and repairing photographic equipment. It takes me much more time than creating pictures..
Once I unwittingly overheard a conversation of men drinking alcohol on the river bank.
They talked about fishing and choosing equipment for this.
One of them had a heavy box of various fishing gear. He showed them with pride, laid out and sorted out ... spinners, wobblers, fishing lines, hooks ...
And the other could boast of nothing but a shovel.
But I remember his words well:
".. there are men's magazines about women,
But sometimes it's just a woman.."
After that He dug up worms and went to fish..)

I've taken over 400 photos in the past three days in and outside of Ruth Bancroft Garden. I've had so much success that I am running into archived images from a year ago. So, tonight, I want to start a series of five very interesting flowers and plants that I've found just since last Monday.
On the way to the Garden, there is a sound wall on Bancroft Blvd. Every time I pass in every season, I notice that there is English Ivy clinging to the wall. These last three days, there are no more than 20 leaves in a full block.
Thinking of the O. Henry (William Sydney Porter) story, "The Last Leaf", I came to this particular trio of leaves with the eastern sun just setting them aglow, and more vibrant that they ever were in Fall. It doesn't fit the story, but I certainly saw the potential for a post for Saturday morning.
Go read the short story. You may never see a lone leaf - or even a trio - the same way again.

La Sarcelle d'hiver est la plus petite espèce de canards de surface. Elle se rencontre en Europe, Amérique du Nord et aussi en Asie.
C'est un migrateur partiel, elle est chassée en grand nombre en Europe et en Amérique du Nord.
Son poids d'adulte varie en effet de 250 à plus de 400 grammes. Mâles et femelles sont de petite taille, de 35 cm de longueur (31 à 43 cm), avec une envergure de 53 à 59 cm.
La présence d'un miroir vert (côté interne) et noir (côté externe) sur l'aile, encadré par des bandes blanches (devenant jaunâtres vers l'intérieur), est un trait caractéristique de cette espèce. Le ventre est blanc.
