3Dprinting: @fabio_pirri73

Painting: “Inika’s Things”

I'm not sure why I've never made a small box to be 3D printed before.

I do not know what the brown gunk on the threaded rods is, I'd assumed it was oxidation, but that should at least be a different color if it is aluminum. I guess it isn't aluminum.

Fun designing with Autodesk Inventor.

A wall off 20 3D printers

The object on left was one of my first attempts printing PLA. It was at 220C 0 infill and a few extra-shells for good measure. You'll notice the obvious scarring below the left shoulder blade.

What really seems to have helped, though, is upgrading from firmware v5.2 to v6.0.

The one at right is printed with the defaults, but at 192C.

You'll notice no scarring. But you'll also notice that at 192, the PLA is much more transparent, which actually make the details of the model more difficult to resolve.

This took 2d 17h 21m 10s to print.

I used Lulzbot's "Fine" profile for/with Cura.

Finally I was able to print PLA for more than an hour.

Seems like the filament was moving through the extruder too slowly, so eventually the bit where the gear holds the filament was getting too soft to be able to let the gear get enough purchase. At that point it would jam.

It is still not perfect, but quite good and progress none-the-less!
