Meet @alishaedgelow! I’ve known Alisha for a little over a year now through numerous networking events in the city and on shooting assignments for @cbcsask. She’s originally from Vernon, BC and has been living here in #YXE since 2012. A fun fact I learned about her today was that she was a rollerblader during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in Vancouver — their performance was called Peaks of Endeavour and I even got to see some cool images and screen captures of her on live TV! She’s currently a senior communications manager at CBC, an outgoing IABC President and currently planning TEDxSaskatoon which should be an exciting event in the fall.
We took this portrait after an assignment I had with Flow Magazine and just before the sun set. It was the perfect time to take portraits, I really love the golden hour. Our first ever test shot from the session was pretty bang on already and it didn’t take long before we nailed this shot. Alisha also surprised me with the most thoughtful thank you card after our shoot and it really made my day. Oh and we also hung out and chatted further over sangrias at The Hollows. It’s been a great evening of catching up and planning future projects. Thank you for everything Alisha!

There are 39 balloons in this shot alone (or is it 38?) and there were about 80 balloons all up. The maximum number they are allowed to have in the air at once is 100.
They reminded me of Christmas decorations looking for a tree!

This striking crucifix hangs at the front of Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Madang town. Holy Trinity was the venue for the Madang church conference "Unity: Hope for a Better Future." I loved the opportunity to gaze at this image while sitting in conference sessions. I wanted to know where the crucifix came from, and Father Peter, current priest at Holy Trinity, told me that he believes it is as old as the church building itself, which was built in 1956. The cross is made of wood, but the Christ figure is fiberglass.

I went over to Cambridge today to meet lots of social workers for a project that I'm going to be working on in March. No photo taking opportunities alas as I was busy with work. So I had a bit more of a play with the lightbox that I made at the weekend following these instructions www.strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-pho... I need some better lights to use with it though.
