Today, April 27th 2020, it's 17 degrees Centigrade outside, and very pleasant. However, 39 years ago to the date, in 1981, there was a good fall of snow, so I headed out to the Woodhead line. My trusty Honda Civic, with its front wheel drive and thin tyres got me to Dunford West without any problems. Here 76013 & 76026 head a west bound freight.

A rare occurrence this week with an actual picture of me (!) and Paddy & Smudge . A few days lightweight camping with a friend in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands (hence the photograph!). Cool nights in a lightweight sleeping bag but no bother for me with two hot dog water bottles :) Paddy throughly enjoyed that ... I daresay with Smudge it was a toss up between the 20km a day walkies, the red deer blarting outside the tent at night, the red deer running across the hillsides in great numbers in visible daylight and the dad cuddle ... I daresay it was probably the deer ! (in the photo you can see he was in his constant 'deer spotting mode' :)) [Oh .. and I'm not wearing a kilt .. just shorts! :) ]

VIA 39 has just left the CN Kingston Sub at Coteau Jct. Behind is the tail end of CN 321, with TankTrain cars. It is stopped as it works at Coteau. VIA 39 is on a short section of the Alexandria Sub that belongs to CN; in a very short distance it will reach the VIA Rail portion.
