3801 (pronounced Thirty-eight o-one) is a 4-6-2 steam locomotive operated by the New South Wales Government Railways between 1943 and 1974. It is arguably Australia's most famous steam locomotive, being the only one to have visited all mainland states and territories. Not my best shot of this engine, but she was really smoking. Below is a shot taken a few seconds later as she flew past me.
3801 is a two-cylinder simple, non-condensing, superheated, ‘Pacific’ 4-6-2 express passenger steam locomotive. Operated by the New South Wales Government Railways between 1943 and 1976, it is arguably Australia's most famous steam locomotive. I took this shot at the 150th anniversary celebration of railways in New South Wales in 2005.

Dartmouth visit, 25 September 2021. A view across the Dart Estuary to Kingswear. The Lower Vehicle Ferry is just leaving the slipway to cross to Dartmouth, but there is no ferry at the passenger pontoon. On the right had side houses clamber up the steep hillside, whilst most of the back drop is open fields. In the centre is a boatyard, plus the Kingswear station of the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway, although the only train present is a diesel hauled excursion waiting a return to the West Midlands.
