Alby was heading to the parking lot after an afternoon of shopping with a friend. I was concerned that she was in a hurry and would not have time for photos. Graciously, she said yes and seemed genuinely interested in our project. I have learned that people are more likely to say "yes" to us when they are spending leisure time and not rushing to or fro. I have learned, too, to sieze the opportunity when our would-be subjects are being photographed by friends or family--or, when they are taking photos themselves, which Alby was doing with her Iphone 4. Thanks, Alby, for taking the time. I hope you like the photo.

Outside another parade of shops, slightly more upmarket than the rest of the route so far, but only just.
On 7 Sep 2016, this is an amazing day of 6 years 38 weeks and 38 years.... how could this be?
When I study and listen to the song Santa Monica (youtu.be/fvR8MCrFL5Y) that telling me
"In Santa Monica, in the winter time,
The lazy streets so undemanding
I walk into the crowd
In Santa Monica, you get your
coffee from
The coolest places on the
promenade
Where people dress just so
Beauty so unavoidable, everywhere
you turn
It's there I sit and wonder what am I
doing here?
But on the telephone line I
am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or
Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the
difference
Or would you?
In Santa Monica, all the people got
modern names
Like Jake or Mandy
And modern bodies too
In Santa Monica, on the boulevard,
You'll have to dodge those
In-line skaters
Or they'll knock you down
I never felt so lonely,
Never felt so out of place
I never wanted something more
than this
But on the telephone line I
am anyone
I am anything I want to be
I could be a super model or
Norman Mailer
And you wouldn't know the
difference
On the telephone line, I am
any height
I am any age I want to be
I could be a caped crusader, or
space invader
And you wouldn't know
the difference
Or would you?"

Early morning lightbulbs {February 25, 2020 // 38}
Alright, alright. Still not that all exciting as a pose, but at least I’m facing the camera. 12 years later, hanging lights outside of restaurants is still in fashion! I also wake up way too early for anything to ever be open, which is a huge struggle when on vacation. But it leads to some good old ‘google’ time.
Let’s talk about lightbulbs for a moment. Their use to be a cartel that regulated the lifespan of lightbulbs called Phoebus cartel. They engaged in planned obsolescence, and made companies comply by ensuring everyones lightbulbs lasted the same amount of time, world wide! This was strictly policed — there was a man hired who had a lightbulb from each company, and ensured no lightbulb lasted longer than a day or so of each other. This was serious business. It’s like sabotage to the fullest, and the sad part is that we will never know if someone created a lightbulb that could have lasted forever. Of all the places that I would have thought a cartel to exist, I would never have picked the lightbulb. Once I read about this story, I have to admit, I never looked at many things in the same way again, such as my hair elastics, wondering… maybe they break because there is a cartel somewhere….

Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, and opened down to the wings.
In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave more interior space as well.
Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared for the first time. Suspension and chassis were very similar to that on the XK140. Steering was by rack and pinion; power steering was not offered.
