Douglas B-18 Bolo

Designed in response to a 1934 U.S. Army Air Corps requirement for a replacement for the B-10, the B-18 was based on the Douglas DC-2 airliner using similar wings, tail and engines. The Bolo entered production in 1936 and by 1940 most of the bomber squadrons in the Air Corps were equipped with B-18s. When the United States entered World War II the B-18 was obsolete as a bomber and was in the process of being replaced by the B-17, however 122 were modified with a nose mounted radar replacing the bombardier and magnetic anomaly detectors for locating submarines installed in the tail and called B-18B. These aircraft served in the Caribbean and Atlantic hunting for German submarines through 1943. Most B-18s were retired to transport duties for the remainder of the war and were then sold as surplus in 1945 and 1946.

2012 is the 100th anniversary of bus route 38, and on Sunday 17th June Arriva marked the occasion by running three Routemasters from its Heritage Fleet as 'extras'. These were also joined by an RTL and RTW from the London Bus Company. No fares were charged on these buses, but passengers were invited to make a donation to Maggie's Cancer Charity. A vintage K-type bus dating from 1921 also traversed the route, carrying invited guests. As three of the 'New Bus 4 London' were also operating, the route attracted a lot of attention.
RM5 from the Arriva Heritage Fleet is seen in Dalston Lane, Dalston, on its way to Victoria. RM5 was numerically the first production Routemaster, as the first four were prototypes.

I figured I'd get this shot out of the way. it's almost christmas, the jig is up people. I'll be on a beach for christmas so you all can deal with THIS. People always say "Oh I don't think I could do that, I like a white christmas." Yeah ok wake up on christmas day when its 85&sunny and tell me you don't like it. BACK UP
