this is peace in the bitter cold. river runs and jumps like a puppy on the sand with tongue lolling out and belly flops and sand angels and bouncing laughter. we are most at home here at the coast.

LEGO Pete 359. Used many incredible techniques from John’s 359’s. Used vinyl to recreate the stripes from my dad’s 359. His Pete was burnt orange so LEGO needs to increase the parts in that color!
keeping it simple on Christmas day
My parents used to make us wait on the stairs every Christmas morning so they could take our picture before we rushed downstairs to open presents. My now adult siblings were kind enough to oblige me for a couple minutes this morning. :)
Shooting through glass
My wife is extremely paranoid about peeping toms. I'm not. She has applied something -- soap? wax? -- to my dining room sliding glass door to keep people from looking in. This despite the fact that the only vantage point from which someone could possibly look in would be the roof of our next door neighbor. And, nothing worth looking at ever occurs in my dining room -- I don't even eat there.
But it does make a strange abstract pattern if you shoot through it.
One jumbo customized stocking, check. One 2-month old baby to put in it, check. One cat to provide some scale, check. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
I'm always on the lookout for interesting things to shoot photos through. much like a fancy lens, a glass jar has it's own unique characteristics and details.
