Kagel Mountain shares the roadside parking lot @ Dillon Divide with Mendenhall Peak & Iron Mountain #2 of Angeles National Forest. Parking lot GPS coordinates: 34.34466, -118.34966. Capacity: 3-4 vehicles, up to 6 if narrow spaces are counted.
From 2,742' trailhead to 3,547' summit, 3 miles one way, net elevation gain 805'. Dirt fire road with some stones, plus a short rock section. The truck trail has a handful of minor to moderate ups & downs. Stay on the main road. Don't turn onto any forks.
The summit is a very small launch site for paragliders & hang gliders, about 1/8 of the size of Marshall Peak's in San Bernardino National Forest.

Memorial to John Hamilton Thom (1808-1894).
John Hamilton Thom was an eminent Unitarian minister and writer, born in Newry and educated in Belfast. He moved to Liverpool and became minister of the Ancient Chapel of Toxteth Park (Unitarian) in 1829. In 1831 he moved to the Renshaw Street Chapel. He was editor of The Christian Teacher and The Prospective Review. His works include Laws of Life after the Mind of Christ (1883 & 1886). His last public address was at the opening of the Liverpool Domestic Mission buildings in 1892, at the age of 84. He died two years later in September 1894.
This memorial was brought here from Renshaw Street Chapel.
