Impresionante edificio sagrado con una imponente cúpula: la Karlskirche, la última gran obra del arquitecto estrella barroco Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach.
Completado en 1739 por su hijo Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach, fue construido sobre la base de un voto hecho por el emperador Carlos VI. durante una epidemia de peste. La iglesia está consagrada al santo patrón del emperador de los Habsburgo, San Carlos Borromeo: El pequeño Museo Borromeo exhibe, entre otras cosas, la ropa de viaje del obispo milanés.
El altar mayor diseñado por Fischer von Erlach vuelve a brillar con todo su esplendor después de su renovación. Los exuberantes frescos de la cúpula de Johannes Michael Rottmayr cubren 1250 m² de color y muestran la gloria de San Carlos Borromeo. Un ascensor panorámico lleva a los visitantes a una plataforma de 32,5 metros de altura, donde pueden ver los frescos de cerca. La vista de la iglesia desde arriba es impresionante.

I'd intended uploading some sort of selfie at the beginning of each month to go along with the theme of " I Click. Therefore I am " , but I had an early morning neurology appointment today so captured this hand - held macro of a daffodil instead and to go with it one of my favourite Coldplay songs

I'm hoping to nail this technique by the end of the year as: a)it won't take as much faffing around! b) I won't have as much mess to clear up, and c) I might be able to get it in one shot!
