A pair of CN GE's off an inbound grain train are coupled to an SD40-2 (W) and tucked out of the way in Thunder Bay, Ontario with some nice elevators as a backdrop. The train came in with the "CN 100" logo'd unit on the point.

I stopped in at Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House Saturday afternoon and found an amazing butterfly. I'm not sure what it's official name is but I'm calling it a Clear-winged. I've seen photos but never thought I would see one let alone be able to photograph one. The glassy wings work as a means of camouflage to help them blend in with the environment thus protecting them from predators. They feed on the nectar of common plants, but they seem to prefer the flowers from Lantana, which is what it's feeding on in my photo.

Traveling, In Chicago

A visitor from the Bluebell Railway, GWR 'Dukedog' 4-4-0 No. 9017 passes Pentrefelin with a Llangollen to Carrog train on 20th April 2009.

The locomotive, originally 3217 Earl of Berkeley, was built in 1938 as one of the 3200 Class comprising former Duke Class boilers on Bulldog Class frames. It spent its entire working life on the former Cambrian Railway based at Aberystwyth and Machynlleth from where it was withdrawn from BR service in 1960. Following a period in store at Oswestry, it was moved to the Bluebell Railway in 1962.

The third vehicle in the rake is LNER Thompson Buffet Car No. E1706E, one of two lounge buffet vehicles built in 1948 for use on the Flying Scotsman service. It is owned by the Thompson Heritage Buffet Association and is now resident at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
