Young peregrine falcon chicks.. Only 5-6 weeks old, just got out of the nest.. The one on the right (and sleepy😀) is a female and the other two are her brothers. Notice just how much bigger she is! But it is pretty normal with raptors for the females to be bigger than the males.
I follow the peregrines in two separate locations, so for the next couple of months, this is pretty much all I'm going be shooting. To my delight, because they are my favorite bird.

...with one exception to that doble track just west of the depot, wherre the Ex-GN mainline crosses Cut Bank Creek, and a BN westbound grain train crosses this short single track section @1537 behind three SD40-2, GP30. The operator in that depot (staffed 24 hours) keeps these signals and turnoouts operating; as the sign indicates, passenger and freight movements must keep to 30mph or below.
The Gambel's Quail is a small ground-dwelling bird which inhabits the desert Southwest. Coveys gather along brushy washes and cactus-studded arroyos to feed. Males and females both sport a bobbing black topknot of feathers. This ground-hugging desert dweller would rather run than fly. .
.
These Gambel chicks run around the neighborhood every year with their parents helping to guide them... These photo's were taken on June 2, 2017, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, by R. Sanchez.
