I'm working on turning our living room into a part-time studio for the winter, so today I did some experimenting. Setting this up with a baby strapped to my chest and these two monkeys tearing the house apart all morning was a challenge, so I'm really happy I ended up with nice photos for the effort!

Bonfire for green team. It was, fun.

After getting in line at 3:30 a.m. I was feeling a bit light on my feet, getting the chance to see the president was something I have been trying to do for the last 3 years (he first visited to the open public in September of 2010) but after a run in with the secret service spooked me: I vowed I would get his picture somehow/someway before the end of his presidency.

So when he decided to pay Madison a visit in October (to which I couldn't attend do to work conflicts), I thought my chances were gone to see the man. But alas news came late last week that he was going to pay a visit to the city county building in the heart of the Isthmus. ONLY A MERE .5 MILES FROM MY APARTMENT! With no commitments to work until 3:30 on Monday afternoon I did it, all things aside (pushing and shoving, and old ladies grabbing onto me for help to get them to the security checkpoint) I got to see the President. We all seemingly waited forever, and our feet were sore by the time he came on stage (at that point we had been waiting in line for eight hours) with no bathroom breaks (so not to lose our spot in line) he was greeted with a thunderous applause.

At the end of the day, I felt like I had accomplished something: nearly 1400 (1385 to be exact but whose counting them anyway) since I snapped photos during my first year of a "365 project" of a man on a snow hill on inauguration day wishing instead of being in Madison I could have been in DC. But heck, a presidential visit to Madison for the 2nd time in as many months and a photo to share with you feels great, not to mention the memory!

CN 310 is crossing the Richelieu River with SD70M-2's at the head end and mid-train (CN 8830 & CN 8888). Even after setting off 76 cars at Southwark Yard, it still had 416 axles. Of note is the local fire department doing some training exercises on the river.
