30's wedding
My paternal grandma and grandad.
I've received and saw these pics only yesterday.Look at the children clothes and hairdos!
Yesterday was my 30th birthday.
I hadn't really thought that I would feel any older or that I was going to lose any part of myself. Maybe it was the chocolate... or maybe it was the bartender who asked for my id when ordering a martini during my birthday dinner.. or maybe... just maybe, it's because i still kick ass!!!
Thanks to my dear friend Donna (who is always so thoughtful) for 30 awesomely delicious pieces of Godiva dark chocolates to help smooth over the last few hour of my twenties.

latest addition to binocular collection an almost NOS/Mint pair of Komz 8x 30 centre focus binoculars, image is as you'd expect from Russian binoculars of the period c1972 excellent.
I'd have loved to have hung on until I could get the Spirit of London for the group, but I think time is of the essence with these things. Also, 31 and 32 look like being potential roadblocks, so it's best to keep the chain moving.
Actually, if ludd wants to jump in with his photo instead of this one, I'll happily give way.
Steve Copeland and Ryan Combs are clowns with the Kelly Miller Circus, who were performing in Frisco. Ryan is my cousin Lee Anne's kid. Here they are putting on their makeup. This is Steve.
I was about to choose tonights movie, and when going through my dvd collection, it suddenly strikes me:
How many different americans are there anyway?? :-))
So far, I have found:
The American Beauty
The American Gangster.
The American Psycho.
The American Yakuza.
And I know there is an American Gigolo.. but what else??
Anyone care to help ?? ;-)))
I like car pictures :)
Today i had early release and then had my student-led conference. Went to Sally's, QFC, Borders and Goodwill haha. Super tired though and glad it's the weekend!
This was relatively an easy challenge, as photobombing happens all the time with Jasper getting in the shots somehow, especially on walks--it's always fun trying to balance a camera in my hands while trying to control him from pulling me all over the place!
Oman is home to an impressive number of species of birds that vary from residents, that stay all year around, to breeding birds, that spend a good part of the growing season in Oman to raise their young, migrants who pass through Oman with the seasons, to wintering birds who like to spend a good part of the winter in Oman to escape colder conditions up north. While many species of birds are relatively common as they are part of the ecosystems of the state, it is always a thrill to stumble upon a rare bird or vagrant, that does not really form part of any the Oman ecosystems. Maybe it got lost during its travels between its summer and winter residence or it got displaced by bad weather
Made six dozen cookies for our ward "Munch and Mingle" after church tomorrow. On the months there is a fifth Sunday we have a potluck meal together with the congregation of our church on that fifth Sunday. It's a lot of fun! I had to make gingerbread cookies instead of sugar cookies as we are totally out of eggs. Living 45 minutes from the nearest store does have its disadvantages. And our chickens aren't laying right now.
CTR stands for Choose the Right.

I spotted Elodie standing in the door way to Covent Garden tube station and headed over to give my pitch. She seemed friendly but asked me what for in heavily accented English so I explained more a little more slowly and she smiled and agreed right away. I was drawn to the bold colours that she was wearing and particularly her purple eye shadow which looked awesome.
I didn't stop to chat for long as I was fast loosing my family in the crowds as they never saw me divert for this one. Luckily Mrs Bomvu was wearing a bright jacket!
I was getting close to the limit for hand holding in this light but wanted to keep it at 100 ISO to preserve the lovely colours and thought there would be some nice shadows so I payed extra attention to my holding the camera and I think I just got away with it.
Elodie (I hope I've spelled this right) is from France and speaks better English than I speak French. Thanks so much for the picture!
If you're anywhere near London check out the 100 Strangers London Meetup discussion thread here.
Highly recommended.
Take a look at pictures from the last one here.
I get the same feeling about spring like i do about the first snow fall of winter: giddy with the desire to just stare out the window for hours, except this time i actually went outside!
Surprisingly i never actually took a puddles picture! I even went out in public! :P even though dispite a few cars, there wasnt actually much public, but im glad i went out and took pictures today, the weather turned out lovely!
Oh wow, and i didnt even talk about this week! Its been pretty wonderful- and busy! Finally, after months of rehearsal, i performed in my schools play and i actually had more than 2 lines this time! I had a good supporting role actually and im so sad its over, but so thankful to have had this experience!! I also got to go to my schools semi formal for a bit after my last play, since it got moved after a snow storm, its been a really nice week that ill remember foundly :)
Jan (stranger 30)
Then you are 80 years old, perfectly healthy, never visited a hospital and suddenly you get a cerebral infarction and you are lying in a bed with all kinds of tubes. It happened to Jan. After a few days in hospital, he was able to recover. And nowadays he walks a long way every day on the dike along the IJssel. He takes his crutch with him, not that it's necessary, but more just in case, just in case. He has plenty to see along the IJssel. As an old sailor (he has sailed all the world's seas) he pays particular attention to the passing ships. But those are not seagoing vessels. When he was a sailor, he still moored with his ship at Vuyks, on the wharf along the IJssel. And now he lives there, overlooking where the yard used to be.
This is the 30th photo of my 4th round of the 100strangers project. I like doing it, that's why it's already the 4th round.

This is Tom (on the right) and me on Dartmoor - where we thought we'd try to re-create a photograph I took of us both 30 years ago. I think the result was... well, quite successful really! As in 1978, I set the camera on a timer mechanism.

Transporting an old Scrap VW.
An excellent example of the type of commercial vehicle, that tends to last the longest: single-car transporters working for small workshops and scrapyards in the countryside. With technical knowledge and easy access to spare parts, they can be kept alive almost infinitely. This old Mercedes spent over 6 years inactive, from 2005 to 2011, before being revived once again for 4 more years. When retired in autumn 2015, it was almost 28 years old!
Tip: to locate trucks of particular interest to you, check my collections page, "truck collection" - here you will find all trucks organized in albums, by haulier (with zip-codes), year, brand and country.
Retirement age for trucks: many used trucks are offered for sale on international markets. If sold to a foreign buyer, this will not be listed in the danish motor registry, so a "retired" truck may or may not have been exported. In other words, the "retirement age" only shows the age, at which the truck stopped running on danish license plates.
