On 4 March 1967, the day Oxley (2B) officially closed to steam, a Stanier 8F and Black Fives 45062 and 44944 are stabled at the front of the shed in this photo taken from the coaling stage. 45062 was allocated to Trafford Park (9E) at the time, but would be withdrawn only a month later to return to the area for scrapping at Cashmores Yard, Great Bridge. 44944, allocated to Oxley at the time would live to fight another day, transferring to Crewe South (5B) from where it would be withdrawn in September 1967 and scrapped at Cohens Kettering. Oxley still had visits from steam locos after official closure for repairs or washouts.

Nothing, is gonna roll
and her thing, out of control
And shame, on the underdog
and who's to blame,
About the other day?
It's never ending
