There was a lot of movement in the flowers due to the wind.
That's why I had to use a fast shutter speed.
The result is a high I.S.O.
I'm finally back! I have a thousand excuses, but I'll skip those and just say that I have been genuinely missing flickr, my contacts, and most of all, my camera. After my AP tests, things should clear up more.

Wandering around downtown today. The weather was idyllic. I saw this as decor in an outdoor cafe area. Not an award winning image, but I love the simplicity of it.
2618 seen on Uxbridge Road in Hampton Hill on a 285 service towards Heathrow Airport. This bus recently transferred to Fulwell from Battersea garage, presumably to cover for the transfer of 2049 to Hayes, but I do stand corrected if otherwise.
The bus is in a sorry state, with the advert frames having definitely seen better days, and the offside company logo and LFB stickers nowhere to be seen.

233 285 zog mehr oder weniger unerwartet am 13.06.19 einen Ganzzug aus dem Werk in Bernburg ab... wenige Augenblicke später überquerte sie die Saale und erreichte Bernburg für den Fahrtrichtungswechsel.
To see 285 now in retirement and beautifully restored it kind of brings it home that it's all over for the red Royales. An era passes into history but boy have we given this fleet the biggest ever send off and there must be more recorded evidence of these 67 magnificent beasts than almost any other group of buses I can think of, certainly in Edinburgh.
A final testimony: Our nicest buses ever? Well that's very debateable, but they take with them far more than just their name and their looks - one hundred years of tradition are now over in Scotland's capital and it's happened with hardly a whisper or recognition from anyone in the public gaze.
As of the 29th of August 2009 Edinburgh's famous red buses are no more. I heard 2 tourists arriving for the International Festival observing such a fact. But hey let's not be disheartened. We have our own memories and our own collections which we will share together and enjoy whenever we want to.
We were always the Royales greatest fans and forever more we will remain so.

Today saw Lothian 285 take a turn on the Bus and Boat Tour instead of 651.
Here is Lothian 285 parked up on Waverley Bridge whilst having a break after finishing it's day on the Bus and Boat Tour. 21st May 2012.

285 is the highest number in the fleet of Alexander Royales introduced during 1996 and 1997. This is the chosen favourite that Lothian Buses are keeping in madder red and white for use on occasional special outings. Here she is in the height of Summer '09 climbing with ease over the Drumbrae summit - sounded so smooth as she coasted over this
11% gradient as delicately as the breeze was blowing in my face while I took the picture.
I love that bass sound you get from Olympian Royales there's nothing like it and you can hear them before you see them! What a glorious place this is to be on such a sunnny day like this and see away in the distance the Firth of Forth and Fife hills beyond.

Here I document my very first picture with the Olympus 45 mm f1.8 prime lens. This corresponds to 90 mm in 35 mm format. A lens that is very unusual for me.
