Caritas Bangladesh staff prepare for a food distribution for Rohingya refugees in Monyarghona camp, with CRS support. The Caritas Bangladesh food distribution—consisting of lentils, cooking oil, salt and sugar—is taking place in in Monyarghona camp. Complementary bags of rice are also provided at the distribution by the World Food Program.
The distribution takes into account the special needs of vulnerable groups, including the elderly and women and children. Volunteers are at the ready to carry the heavy food supplies for those who are in special need.
Caritas Bangladesh provides relief assistance to Rohingya refugees across camps in Cox Bazar. Caritas emergency support includes an immediate two-month supply of food rations and kitchen supplies for 10,000 families (nearly 70,000 people), with plans for ongoing food assistance, including emergency shelter, living supplies, water and sanitation, protection social services, and potentially the design and infrastructure support for new camps.
As of October 2017, 700,000 Rohingya Muslims had fled as refugees Bangladesh, with reports of escaping violent conflict in their villages and towns. Boats cross the Naf river with families, children, the elderly, and people who have spent significant funds to pay for the crossing. The needs of refugees from Myanmar are dire—with people arriving hungry, exhausted, and depleted of any resources. Many have faced horrific torture and lost loved ones, including children, in the violence. Their journey to Bangladesh often involved fleeing a direct attack, seeing or watching their houses burn, hiding in the brush as they made their escape over several days and nights, going without food, and crossing streams filled with bodies. The human needs—emotional and physical—are immense.
This image is a 2000X1250 pixel scan from a slide, print or negative. The vast majority of the shots were scanned during the 2007-2014 period. Some images may be re-uploaded from the earliest versions which were done in a smaller size and are noted accordingly.

This is a 2024 upload of a scanned image from my collection. Probably 95% come from slides, the remaining 5% are prints or negatives. They include my own Kodachrome slides, as well as other photographers, which are noted accordingly when the identity is known. All have been collected over the past 40+ years of shooting, exchanging, and purchasing. I was fortunate enough to trade with some of the best aircraft photographers in the world.
This archive was first created in 2017, to easily view my collection in an accessible venue.

Should we call this a new old building or what? In 1980, a fire burned part of a building in what was then downtown Normal and that building was torn down and replaced with a rather plain building. Now the plain building has been torn down and is being replaced by a replica of the original building that burnt. There will be a difference; a large tree sans leaves is in place to serve as a major structural support for the new building.
This will be a sit-down restaurant The Medici with its own bakery in the smaller building next door (which is having its facade restored to what it was in 1940). It will bring a little "Chicago" to Bloomington-Normal for the restaurant is an extension of "The Med" which is a popular "garbage pizza" and hamburger hangout for University of Chicago students in the Hyde Park area of Chicago.

Whislt waiting several hours in the pouring rain to wander around the ramps at Lanseria I passed the time on the observation terrace drinking numerous coffees. Kulula.com operate regular flights between Lanseria & Cape Town. In one of their amusing schemes is this Boeing 737/8K2(W), ZS-ZWO, c/n 28373.

Originally, part of the Juaneno or Acajchemem tribal land, it later was owned by Don Juan Avila, Louis Moulton, The Mission Viejo Company and now is under the jurisdiction of OC Parks. Within the park lands are mature oaks, sycamores, and elderberry trees, two year round streams and over 30 miles of official trails. Many rare and endangered plants and animals make this park their home. This park is designated as a wildlife sanctuary.

A nice example of a three-story late 18th century house, probably associated with one or more of the breweries which flanked it. In the 1920s Nevil Shute Norway, the Chief Calculator at the Howden Airship Station where the R100 was being built, lodged here. He later became famous as the novelist Nevil Shute and his first novel 'Mazaran' was probably written here.
