Former Merseyrail Class 503 EMUs in the form of Driving Trailers 29271 & 28373 await scrapping at the old Alexandra Dock goods depot on 29th July 1985.
The class were gradually withdrawn from Wirral line services from June 1984 to March 1985 following introduction of the 507s and latterly, 508s.
A plan that has only recently been disclosed was to send a selection of 503s to work on the Ryde to Shanklin IOW railway to replace life expired units on the island - Unfortunately this didn't come to fruition!
Vic Berry had the contract to cut up these units on site and I can remember seeing a few of these moved here - presumably for ease of access for the lorry off the adjacent Dock Road.
Bath Postal Museum, 27 Northgate Street, Bath, Somerset.
The museum was founded in 1979 by Audrey and Harold Swindells in the basement of their house in Great Pulteney Street. In 1985, it moved to a home in Broad Street. This was the site of Bath's main Post Office from 1822 to 1854 and the building in which the first recorded posting of a Penny Black took place on 2 May 1840.
The museum's collections include: biographies of key figures involved with the development of the Post Office and connected with Bath, such as Ralph Allen, John Palmer and Thomas Moore Musgrave; a history of the post from 2000BC to the current day and a history of the British postbox.
Artefacts on display included quills and ink wells, stamp boxes, post boxes, post horns, clay tablets, strip maps, model mail coaches, and letters and postcards. There was also a replica Victorian post office.
Due to vastly increased rent from 2003, the museum had to move out of the Broad Street building and on 7 November 2006 it reopened on a much smaller scale in the basement of the post office building at 27 Northgate Street.

** ironically, a while back I acquired Spring Blossom complete and NRFB, and that one was also in a Mix'n match box - the mix was the exact reverse of this one ...
so, now I can give that doll the proper lid and keep this incomplete doll loose ...
and maybe the Spring Tea Party doll will eventually find her way to me, since I already have a box and a stand waiting just for her.

二子坪位於陽明山國家公園的巴拉卡公路上，為三側環山的谷地，林相豐富風景優美，物種生態繁多，尤其春夏之際蝶類飛舞，而有蝴蝶花廊之稱。
陽明山國家公園緊鄰大台北都會區，擁有獨特的火山地質地形及多樣的動植物資源，亦可見早期所留下豐富的人文史蹟；陽明山地區多變豐富氣候景象，四季有著不同的風情，春天群花競豔、夏季藍天白雲青山綠地、秋天金芒搖曳，冬季凜冽山風，以溫泉舒暢身心。
隱而不宣的改名過程
如果我們查官方版的內容，會知道「陽明山」因紀念明儒王陽明先生而改名。但為何是唯獨陽明先生雀屏中選，有值得玩味的故事。陽明山所指的原來並不只是一座山，而是一個區域的地名，原名草山，台灣府誌記載：「草山以多茅草，故名。」泛指大屯山、七星山、紗帽山所環繞的這片長滿芒草的谷地。蔣介石來台後，因中國為毛澤東所據，草山有「落草為寇」的意思，非常刺耳，便以他故鄉的名人「王陽明」為名，而使「草山」就此更名了。
另外還有一種說法是：當年蔣介石到台灣，第一個住的地方就是陽明山的草山御賓館（日治時期臺灣總督府為裕仁皇太子興建的太子賓館）。當時，國民黨和共產黨在爭取正統政權，所以國民黨就請孫科（孫文的後代）來臺擔任官職，當時蔣介石就把太子御賓館讓出來給他住，自己住到草山行館。孫科住到太子御賓館時，覺得草山很難聽，有落草為寇的感覺，很不雅，他覺得陽明先生是中國史上一位很重要的文人，因此把草山改名為陽明山。
陽明山的發展
陽明山有豐富的硫磺礦脈，硫磺為火藥的重要原料，足夠與否對戰爭有很重要的影響。清康熙三十五年，福州火藥庫因大火而損失五十萬斤黑火藥，清廷在隔年派遣浙江籍的郁永河來台採辦硫磺，其目標就是大屯山區的硫磺礦，因此正式的開啟了本區的採硫事業。
1895年(光緒21年)，台灣被清廷割讓給日本後，當時為了反抗日本人的統治，有部分抗日義軍在簡大獅的率領下退守大屯山區及金山一帶與日軍周旋，因為地形上有利於反抗軍藏匿，游擊部隊神出鬼没，帶給日人很大的威脅，為消滅民間反抗勢力，日方一面誘之以利，一面積極開闢附近的道路，以加強其軍事統治。日人治台之後，便積極開闢道路改善交通，草山因為溫泉品質好、風景佳，於是被積極開發，陸續修築士林到金山、北投到草山，及北投紗帽山等多條道路，後又改修圓山到士林的車行公路，並延長此公路到竹子湖。直到第二次大戰開始，草山的開發工作才告一段落。在築路之時，日人陸陸續續發現北投、草山地區的溫泉源頭，深為此處靈秀的美景和豐富的溫泉資源吸引而積極進行開發，各種公共浴室、俱樂部、溫泉旅館等接連設立，國際大旅館亦是當時所興建，故本區建築與傳統民宅之風格迥異，也反映出其時代背景的意義。

Lots has changed here over the years including the name of the road, it's now called Clachnaharry Road. The roadhouse has been converted into a motorcycle dealers in more recent times and may have gone through other businesses in between. The location of the petrol forecourt is still clear to see on Streetview, even the drop down kerbs at each end are there, but the actual land is bare. Neil King has a lovely image of the same place - see below.
