Running along the banks of the Colorado River west of McCoy, CO and on the former Rio Grande’s Dotsero Cutoff, Union Pacific’s MNYGJ 26 heads for Grand Junction, CO. Running from Bond to Dotsero, CO; the scenic Dotsero Cutoff connected the former Denver & Salt Lake main line to the Denver & Rio Grande Western’s Tennessee Pass line.
So obviously, this isn't me. I had a shoot today with the lovely Charlotte and equally lovely makeup artist Kathleen. It was our 10th shoot together (yaaaaay^^), and my first real shoot with the RZ67!
We shot in the snow and in between we shot inside (to warm up) in front of yesterday's craftwork I was talking about. :)
Things I learned about shooting with the RZ:
- It is awesome. I really love the Mamiya C33 I usually shoot with, but when I switched the RZ for the C33 for a couple shots it was suddenly so much harder! The screen was dark and focussing was only easy on things standing in the middle of the frame (ha perhaps this is why I compose so much like this), as opposed to the RZ.
Things to remember:
- Don't forget the dark slide (I'm not used to it, so forgot it - a lot)
- Don't shoot fp100c silk if you want nice smooth fujiroids to scan... These all had a raster on them which breaks my heart makes me kind of sad. But oh well nothing to do about it now.
Other than that I just feel all warm and fuzzy inside because it was a good day in lovely company.

26. Cake
Some might argue that pavlova isn't strictly a cake, but I checked with google and it seems to be acceptable ;)
Either way, it was delicious :)
Im trying to be honest and hide less behind all those textures.. and not to wear any make up.. to just be me.. of course my eyes are still hard for me to photograph.. and to smile also...
but maybe ill get there eventually.
You can see the reflection of me in Flynn's eyes here & you may be able to make out that I had one hand up over my head. I was clutching a teeny tiny clump of red dirt... & Flynn thought that was HIGHLY exciting, hence the wide-eyed look of anticipation! A second later, I threw the precious dirt & Flynn vanished back off into the long grass, chasing after it.
Flynn never tries to catch, or pick up mud, or pebbles - which I also sometimes use as "toys" - but he loves chasing them... His willingness to run after literally anything you can throw comes in handy especially handy during this time of year, when it's so easy to lose balls etc, in waist-high meadow grass, or, even worse, in the crops. Flynn is actually pretty good at sniffing out lost toys. He likes using his nose & can be directed into a roughly the right area to search but still, it's all too easy for toys to get dropped & then disappear beneath the tangle of plants, or, in farmland, to simply be inaccessible!
There's nothing more annoying than knowing where a toy landed or was dropped, but not being able to persuade Flynn to find it & not being able to get it myself, because that would involve trampling all over the crops! Flynn is free to go prancing off through the wheat fields but unless I want an irate farmer to come chase me off their land, I, as the clumsy, stompy human, have to stick to the paths! So, yes, currently, Flynn is doing a lot of mud & pebble chasing :)
I love how the tufts of fur stand out from Skylar's ears when she's listening very closely, almost like an extra pair of ears.

SOOC
Cell Block Tengo off the Chicago soundtrack is STUCK IN MY HEAD.
But, it was a really dreary day. Yesterday was warm and nice all day, until the night when it snowed, and then today it was just...disgusting. A few more in comments. There's no concept behind this. BLAH

With this fireworks shot made in Munich this summer I want to wish you all "Guten Rutsch!" and a Happy New Year 2012!
Hope you will enjoy my pictures also in 2012. And - yes, I am really no expert in taking fireworks shots. ;-)
I am late at posting week 26 theme. The theme is composition using the rule of thirds and whitespace.
