22,247 Nathan got a small coloring book from a girl who handed out birthday favors at school. He was focused on coloring it - in yellow- after I picked him up today.

This is me testing the lighting setup for a shoot, making sure everything is in the right place and at the right levels. One day perhaps I will have an assistant to pose for this kind of thing but until then at least it gives me something to show for my 365 daily shot.
Four lights are used for this shot. The key light is a Canon speedlite 430 EX II fitted with a 60cm softbox and positioned overhead and slightly to the front of the subject. Two Bowens GM400 studio flashes are providing the rim light. Both are behind and slightly above the subject, the one to the left is at around 110 degrees from the camera position while the one to the right is at around 135 degrees. The final light is a Yongnuo YN468 on axis to provide fill on the neck and underside of the arms. One of the studio flashes was optically triggered, the rest of the lights were triggered using an RF-602 wireless system.
One interesting product of this shot is the discovery that the YN468 is not quite as consistent in it’s light temperature as my other flashes. The light on the underside of the arms is definitely reddish in comparison to the lighting elsewhere on the skin. I will just have to remember in the future not to use that flash for lighting skin tones, or anything else that is colour sensitive.
