799th BS, 464th BG, 15th AF
April 10,1945 mission to bomb a tactical target near Lugo,Italy. Plane was flying as group lead with the 799th BS C.O. at the controls. It took a direct flak hit between the #1 and #2 engines, folding the wing back and bursting into flame. It then spun several times and exploded, throwing one man clear.

Preserved former British Railways Type 2 Bo-Bo class 24/1 diesel-electric locomotive number 24081 at The Burrs in Bury on the East Lancashire Railway running light engine from Bury to Touchy Hill Cutting to assist preserved former British Railways rebuilt The Hunslet Engine Company Limited 0-6-0 diesel-mechanical locomotive number D2595 which had failed with a blown injector while hauling the 19:00 Bury Bolton Street to Ramsbottom. 20:03, Sunday 18th June 1989
Note, 24081 was built at British Railways’ Crewe works in 1960 as number D5081, being renumbered 24081 on 27th February 1974. It was placed in store on 2nd November 1977 but restored traffic on the following day. It withdrawn from Crewe Diesel Traction Maintenance Depot in week commencing 5th October 1980 and acquired for preservation, being moved to the Steamport Transport Museum at Southport on 17th October 1980

My family did, though. And in some way, this continent marked me more than the one I live in because things you don't have or you aren't build your mind and soul a lot more than things you have and are.
today was amazing! i saw so many people today lol, it was great. this is how it went...
i met up with Salma, Fatima and Shayda at 1ish first. Shayda had just recently come back from overseas so we were well overdue for a catch up! My darlings Salma and Fatima also feature in day 12:

but it was still too good to see them again!
we went to lunch at this italian restaurant in QV and had a smorgasbord of things to eat! pizza, pasta, brushetta, wedges, fries and A WHOLE BLOCK OF GNOCCHI. it was kerrrrazy! but also very yummy.
then we literally walked all over the city and eventually met up with my babe Meena, who featured in day 7:

and we all went to starbucks for some drinks. my darling Summy, from days 21 and 22, joined us a bit later too.
we chatted, gossipped and laughed for so longgggggggg, until everyone had to go and it was just Summy, Shayda and I left. so naturally, we went out for more food, at the vietnamese noodle house this time for some Tom Yum soup!
and as if that wasn't enough, we then went to degraves street for some coffee, facebook stalking and even more talk ahaha.
i couldn't have asked for a better day, these girls are the absolute best! :)
these photos were taken at (approx) 3:40pm on the 24th of January 2011 using a nikon d60 with nikkor 18-55mm lens. I LOVE MY REMOTE, thank you Allah!

Today I'm perched on my desk in my little sewing corner wearing a Nani IRO C with self drafted collar. The blouse is lovely and loose with kimono sleeves. The top is jutting out in a strange manner - like I have something in my bra - but this was the best photo I had for Me Made May 12 documentation - so I'll just have to live with it!
The fabric is Powell B from the SS12 Central Saint Martins collection. I first blogged about this top here and I have a better closeup of the fabric: kbfield.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/sunday-sewing.html.

A consolidated B-24 Liberator of the 15th A.F. releases its bombs on the railyards at Muhldorf, Germany on 19 March 1945. Bombers of the 15th A.F. are slicing vital rail lines from Vienna to Munich as the air offensive against the enemy reaches an all-time high. (U.S. Air Force photo)
B-24M-1-FO (S/N 44-50443) from the 727th BS, 451st BG, named "LOW-AN-ROY" (16). This plane was scrapped at RFC Walnut Ridge on Dec. 20, 1945.
Brand new Metroline New Bus for London / Borismaster LT11 , LK13 FJN on its fourth day in service on route 24 to Pimlico. Seen at Hamstead Heath. This is the rear view of the NB4L. No Northern Ireland Number Plates yet as this bus was used in Driver Training.
