This picture (showing the 24th to the 40th floors) begins a series of the iconic Guardian Building in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It was built during the heyday of Detroit, completed in early 1929. Unfortunately, a world-wide economic disaster, the "Great Depression" began at the end of 1929.
The Guardian Building was a standout, built of an orange brick, with ornamental tile highlights amid a sea of gray limestone and marble skyscrapers. It was topped with a crown of lights that was spectacular at night. Its interior, in Aztec-Art Deco, that was so exceptionally striking, will be shown in upcoming pictures.

Almagro es una ciudad y municipio español de la provincia de Ciudad Real, en la comunidad autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha. En 1972 su casco histórico fue declarado conjunto histórico-artístico. Cuenta con una población de 8983 habitantes (INE 2017).
Está catalogado como Uno de Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España desde el año 2015 y pertenece desde entonces a la asociación homónima.
Su entorno natural se halla encajado entre pequeñas sierras paleozoicas con algunos recursos de agua de escaso flujo: arroyos Pellejero y de Cuetos. Es del mayor interés la presencia de una zona volcánica (cerro de la Yezosa), sobre los macizos de cuarcitas existentes, lo que singulariza la zona, junto a la de Olot y a la de cabo de Gata, como los únicos territorios de origen volcánico de alguna importancia dentro de la península ibérica.
La localidad es conocida en toda la península por su compromiso con las artes escénicas desde que se redescubriera y recuperara en 1954 el que es hoy en día el corral de comedias mejor conservado de toda España (Monumento Nacional desde 1955).
Aprovechando su inmejorable situación, desde 1978 se celebra en la ciudad cada verano, durante el mes de julio, el Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico dedicado al Barroco y en especial al Siglo de Oro.
Otros festivales que se dan cita en la ciudad son el Festival Iberoamericano de Teatro Contemporáneo de Almagro (FITCA), que en 2015 alcanzó su XV edición y más recientemente el Festival de Creación Universitaria de Almagro (CUAL), que inició sus pasos en 2014.
Almagro is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. In 1972 its historic centre was declared a historic-artistic site. It has a population of 8,983 inhabitants (INE 2017).
It has been listed as One of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain since 2015 and has since belonged to the eponymous association.
Its natural environment is nestled between small Paleozoic mountain ranges with some low-flow water resources: Pellejero and Cuetos streams. Of greatest interest is the presence of a volcanic area (cerro de la Yezosa), on the existing quartzite massifs, which makes the area unique, along with Olot and Cabo de Gata, as the only territories of volcanic origin of any importance within the Iberian Peninsula.
The town is known throughout the peninsula for its commitment to the performing arts since the rediscovery and recovery in 1954 of what is today the best-preserved corral de comedias in all of Spain (a National Monument since 1955).
Taking advantage of its unbeatable location, since 1978 the International Classical Theatre Festival dedicated to the Baroque and especially the Golden Age has been held in the city every summer during the month of July.
Other festivals that take place in the city are the Almagro Ibero-American Contemporary Theatre Festival (FITCA), which reached its 15th edition in 2015 and more recently the Almagro University Creation Festival (CUAL), which began its steps in 2014.

El parque nacional de las Tablas de Daimiel es un espacio natural protegido español que protege el humedal homónimo. Se encuentra situado en los términos municipales de Daimiel y Villarrubia de los Ojos, en la provincia de Ciudad Real, comunidad autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha. Es además una zona de especial protección para las aves (ZEPA) y parte de la Reserva de la Biosfera La Mancha Húmeda. Con 192 025 visitantes anualmente (2015), las Tablas de Daimiel es el decimotercer parque nacional más visitado de España.
Las Tablas son uno de los últimos representantes de un ecosistema denominado tablas fluviales que se forman al desbordarse los ríos en sus tramos medios, favorecidos por fenómenos de semiendorreísmo y la escasez de pendientes. El humedal se forma en la confluencia del río Guadiana y su afluente Cigüela y es uno de los ecosistemas acuáticos más importantes de la península ibérica por la variedad y calidad de la fauna y flora que habitan en ella, así como por aquellas aves que la emplean en los pasos migratorios. Las Tablas sirve de refugio a más de 2.000 especies (plantas, aves, insectos, peces, réptiles... ).
Las Tablas son el último representante de un ecosistema denominado tablas fluviales que se forman por los desbordamientos de los ríos en sus tramos medios, favorecidos por fenómenos de semiendorreísmo y por la escasez de pendientes.
El parque cuenta con unos humedales formados a partir de la confluencia del río Guadiana y su afluente Gigüela y es uno de los ecosistemas acuáticos más importantes de España debido a la fauna y flora que habitan en ella. También es importante por el gran número de aves migratorias que pasan por la zona como los ánades y los ánsares.
Las Tablas de Daimiel pueden considerarse, dentro de una clasificación hidrológica-estructural de los humedales, como un "hidrohumedal de recarga"; en teoría, con disposición plurianual de agua superficial, que recarga constantemente el acuífero infrayacente. Aunque en los tiempos actuales, a veces se asemeja más a un "higrohumedal", de recarga temporal.
Las Tablas de Daimiel están formadas por las aguas de dos ríos de diferente naturaleza, lo que las convierte en un ecosistema privilegiado: el agua del río Gigüela que procede de los páramos de Cabrejas en la serranía conquense aporta aguas salobres, mientras que el río Guadiana aporta aguas dulces que surgen de sus ojos aproximadamente a unos 15 km al norte del parque nacional, en el término municipal de Villarrubia de los Ojos.
The Tablas de Daimiel National Park is a protected natural area in Spain that protects the wetland of the same name. The Tablas de Daimiel are formed by the waters of two rivers of different nature, which makes them a privileged ecosystem: the water of the Gigüela river that comes from the Cabrejas moors in the Cuenca mountain range provides brackish water, while the Guadiana river provides fresh water that emerges from its springs approximately 15 km north of the national park, in the municipality of Villarrubia de los Ojos.

La Playa de Zurriola es una de las tres playas de la ciudad de San Sebastián (España). Está situada entre la desembocadura del río Urumea y el monte Ulía, y tiene una longitud aproximada de 800 metros.
En 1994 se llevaron a cabo unas obras de reforma de la playa, anteriormente prácticamente inutilizable dada la virulencia de las aguas. Gracias a dichas reformas, que incluyeron la construcción de un espigón, la playa aumentó su longitud, sus aguas se hicieron aptas para el baño y su uso se multiplicó.
Frente al perfil elegante y tranquilo de las playas de Ondarreta y La Concha, la playa de Zurriola se ha consolidado como una playa de perfil más joven y apropiada para la práctica del surfismo (se trata de la playa más abierta y con más fuerte oleaje de la ciudad) y como escenario de algunos conciertos del Festival de Jazz de San Sebastián y de competiciones de Bodyboarding, surf, skateboarding y eventos similares.
The Zurriola Beach is one of the three beaches in the city of San Sebastián (Spain). It is located between the mouth of the Urumea River and Mount Ulía, and it has an approximate length of 800 meters.
In 1994, some works were carried out to reform the beach, which was previously practically unusable given the virulence of the waters. Thanks to these reforms, which included the construction of a jetty, the beach increased its length, its waters became suitable for bathing and its use multiplied.
Facing the elegant and tranquil profile of the beaches of Ondarreta and La Concha, Zurriola beach has established itself as a beach with a younger profile and suitable for surfing (it is the most open beach with the strongest waves in the the city) and as a stage for some concerts of the San Sebastian Jazz Festival and competitions of Bodyboarding, surfing, skateboarding and similar events.

La plaza de la Constitución es una plaza situada en la Parte Vieja de la ciudad de San Sebastián, en el País Vasco, España. En esta plaza, con sus soportales como característica principal, se suelen celebrar las grandes fiestas y eventos de la ciudad, como la tamborrada de San Sebastián o la feria del día de Santo Tomás. Su edificio central fue, hasta 1947, casa consistorial de la ciudad, siendo ocupado por las instalaciones de la Biblioteca Municipal (1951-2000) y, posteriormente, por dependencias administrativas del área de cultura del Ayuntamiento.
Sobre el espacio que ocupa la actual plaza de la Constitución ya existía una plaza realizada según el proyecto de Hércules Torrelli de 1723. La nueva plaza de estilo neoclásico se levantó tras el incendio de la ciudad en el contexto del asedio de San Sebastián de 1813. Sus dimensiones se encuentran moduladas en 20 arcos iguales en cada uno de los lados mayores y 9 arcos, iguales a los primeros, en el lado menor.
Los balcones de la plaza están numerados, puesto que sirvieron como palcos para las fiestas taurinas celebradas en la plaza.
The Plaza de la Constitución is a square located in the Old Part of the city of San Sebastián, in the Basque Country, Spain. In this square, with its arcades as its main characteristic, the city's big parties and events are usually celebrated, such as the tamborrada de San Sebastián or the Santo Tomás day fair. Its central building was, until 1947, consistorial house of the city, being occupied by the facilities of the Municipal Library (1951-2000) and, later, by administrative dependencies of the area of culture of the City council.
Over the space that occupies the current Plaza de la Constitución there was already a square made according to the project of Hercules Torrelli in 1723. The new neoclassical square was built after the fire of the city in the context of the siege of San Sebastian in 1813. Its dimensions are modulated in 20 equal arcs in each one of the greater sides and 9 arcs, equal to the first ones, in the smaller side.
The balconies of the square are numbered, since they served as boxes for bullfighting celebrations held in the square.
