Album: MILAN in b&w

Blue sky and clouds after yesterday's rain.

Day 22. I picked up a camera i bought off craigslist. Damn this thing is heavy. I thought my 5dmkII was heavy, but geez. I scored all the original manuals, flashes, brackets, bulbs, tools, etc. Basically everything that came with this camera. Literally even the warranty cards and free postcard kits. It even came with developed pictures and it looks as if the person who owned this camera liked grocery stores or owned them as they took pictures of the displays in the store. It looks as if it was used once.... pretty sweet..

This picture is #22 in my 4th round of the 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

We'd taken a 'break' from looking for strangers and stopped at an infamous Brick Lane pub for a quiet drink when I spotted Olivia walking along with a group of friends. She carried off her look with such style and grace that I was unable to not react. I passed my wine glass to someone (Iian I think) and went straight into my pitch. Olivia was happy to play along and a mural just next to the pub was the perfect colour tone for her.

I've really struggled to choose a picture to post here because I have more than a few keepers. I also did 4 different edits of this one and love them all equally. Definitely one of my favourite shots of the day.

I enlisted a friend of hers, who I've since discovered is called Toby, to hold the reflector for us. I bossed him around quite mercilessly and dubbed him 'Reflector Man' which raised some mirth. I don't know why it is that I get really bossy when I have a camera in hand because I'm not normally that way inclined. Definitely something for the psych couch one of these days!

CSS&SB Pullman built 22 at the Randolph Street Station in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in March 1980, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in 1927 by Pullman Car and Manufacturing Company as a 61 foot coach with Pullman-type smoking compartment, it was lengthened in 1945 and retained the original single widow per seat configuration. Around 1960 it was shopped and equipped with lengthened picture-window style windows (not sealed), but no air conditioning.

Other people have built LEGO models of the F-22 production version, typically using one of many LEGO one-piece cockpit canopies. I don't think any of them come particularly close to the shape of the canopy of the YF-22, though, and most of my other aircraft have brick-built canopies. So, I went with a brick-built canopy for this model too. This has two drawbacks: it's obviously not very transparent and its construction means the pilot has to sit quite low. However, I like the look and I'm happy I managed to fit a pilot at all!

This is the 22nd photo in a series of analog photos I took when I was in Berlin for a week in October this year.

All of them are taken with a Zenit TTL and the film is all Kodak Gold and Kodacolor.

More pictures will follow, chronologically, as some kind of diary, an experiment, a documentation of what it was like. Because one photo tells more of a story than a 1000 words.

The series is called Berlin'10 and I'm putting all of it in the set with the same title.

...Yeah,

We're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way

It's miserable and magical, oh, yeah

Tonight's the night when we forget about the heartbreaks

It's time

Uh oh!

I don't know about you

But I'm feeling 22

Everything will be alright

If you keep me next to you

You don't know about me

But I'll bet you want to

Everything will be alright (alright)

If we just keep dancing like we're

22...

I'm just trying out some new filters. This image is a 22 minute exposure which would have caused all kinds of problems on my old camera but the 6D handled it without any issues whatsoever. I'm going to have some fun with these.
