anybody knows what this is? what causes it? it's not a lens effect: it was even clearer by eyesight.

Can we send this photo without being accused of being smug and
triumphalist again? On the day Kitzbühel cancelled training for the
Hahnenkamm for lack of snow, in spite of helicoptering it in, Val
d’Isère is holding Europa Cup races on the OK in perfect conditions.
Actually, we don’t mind crowing a little - Val d’Isère may not have
the smartest shops, a golf course, its own airport or even the
prettiest trees. But it does have the best snow in the Alps, and this
year that makes a big difference.
If we don’t blow our own trumpet, no-one else is going to...
Taken near New Smithville, PA on Old US 22 in Berks County. One of my projects is to take all my old & new photos of 22, 78 and Old 22 and get them all together in one place. I think Flickr is the place to do it. I could even start a US 22 Group if there isn't one already. US 22 starts at the Holland Tunnel in NYC and goes all the way to the Pacific Ocean..... or at least it did at one time!!! LOL!!! I know in Pennsylvania it was/is called William Penn Highway but I wonder what names it has going across the country? Anyone know? There are a few websites that show highway signs and explain the old road configurations but I haven't found one that shows actual scenery and attractions (like Roadside America in Shartlesville!!) like I want to do. I guess for the next several months I will concentrate on Old 22 in NW Jersey (where I work) and also work my way through Easton (Walnut Ave/Butler St/Easton Ave) and Bethlehem (Union Blvd) and Allentown (Tilghman St) and then on my trips to Harrisburg to visit relatives I will gradually hit all the old towns (Kuhnsville, Fogelsville, New Smithville, Krumsville, Lenhartsville, Hamburg, Shartlesville, Strausstown, Rehrersburg, Bethel, Frystown, Fredericksburg, Ono, Jonestown and so forth on the way into downtown Harrisburg (Derry St/Mulberry St/ Herr St). From Harrisburg, Old 22 follows the river north. I haven't been up there in awhile. I used to have a friend in Lewistown and we drove Old 22 up there to check it out but the last time I did that was several years ago.
Surprise!
All the way from Surprise, Arizona from my dear friend Margaret Storer-Roche....Bless her!
A quik sketch of my handbag among some of Margarets wrapping during a coffee break from painting my bedroom.

Well, not all pictured here (missing Phidiana hiltoni, Cuthona divae, Dendronotus frondosus, maybe more), but 22 species is pretty good for one guy in a handful of pools.
