The fundraiser was to help re-establish the Young Patriot Organization in the 21st Century.
The Young Patriots were a group of poor southern migrants in 1960's Chicago who were part of a revolutionary alliance with the Young Lords Organization (a Puerto Rican group) and the Black Panther Party (a Black organization). Together they formed the original Rainbow Coalition. Soon afterward Rising Up Angry, a working class white Chicago organization also joined.
Please remember to vote if you haven't already! (And spare a thought for us in California, who had to read through a 224 page voter guide for state issues. In many cities, there was an additional guide for local issues. In San Francisco I heard it was 300 pages long!)

Night of the epic San Antonio hail storm of 2016. View from my front porch. Those white streaks are huge hailstones flying around. On my property alone 3 cars, total losses, 2 trees to haul away. Roof, total loss. 2 storage sheds, total loss. Loss of 2 years so far in fruit from bearing trees, profound bruising to cypress and other small trees. Several small vegetable plants froze off due 2 standing piles of hail. Assorted other damage. Almost $150,000 damage to my modest home and vehicles and that of a guest. But Bernie remained standing upright!
