Well now that the year is coming to a close I decided I would make a tribute photo to a faction in the Purge that was updated and worked on quite a lot this year. So yeah keep up the good work, go team.
If people want I could make another one for the entire Purge factions, but well so many photos :3

A good climb to the top of this hill from White rock beach where i had been photographing recently. With the Holga and 35mm Nikon and kit it was a tough climb. This is the Holga image. There is an easier climb but only discovered it on the way down, a great view from the top popular with film crews and photographers, "Once" a recent Dublin film used the location.The Holga was loaded with HP5 and developed in ID11.
Just a word of warning, for those planning on watching the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
It won't be as big as Beijing.

Palazzo Belgiojoso, Piazza Belgiojoso 2, Milano.
Palazzo Belgioioso (o Belgiojoso), a Milano, è un'opera di Giuseppe Piermarini, iniziata nel 1772 e terminata nel 1787, per il principe Alberico XII di Belgioioso d'Este. Viene considerato come una delle migliori espressioni dell'architettura neoclassica a Milano, assieme al Teatro alla Scala.
All'epoca il Piermarini era responsabile della riconversione urbanistica di Milano secondo lo stile neoclassico. Per Palazzo Belgioioso si ispirò al modello di Luigi Vanvitelli della Reggia di Caserta, rielaborandolo e semplificandolo attraverso l'utilizzo di lesene piatte nella fascia superiore dell'edificio, lasciando così lo stile barocco teresiano ed introducendo lo stile che dominerà la trasformazione urbanistica di Milano negli anni successivi. Le lesene scandiscono verticalmente l'andamento orizzontale del fronte del palazzo, sottolineato dal motivo della muratura a linee parallele.
Il Piermarini, che era anche architetto di corte, si occupò della realizzazione del progetto partendo proprio dalle facciate, simmetriche e scandite ciasacuna dalla presenza di venticinque finestre e tre portoni d'ingresso. Il fabbricato si svolge attorno ad un cortile centrale e ad altri minori di servizio ai lati. Nel cortile maggiore corrono due ali di porticato ad archi su colonne doriche di granito; sopra le arcate si trovano finestre a cimasa piana riccamente decorata nel fregio con corone, aquile, palme e festoni. Dalla testata destra del portico si accede al grandioso scalone a due rampe, con parapetto e balaustre e grandi vasi decorativi avente le parenti scompartite da lesene ioniche.
Al piano nobile, in parte adibito oggi ad uffici, si apre una serie di sale riccamente decorate dagli stucchi dorati di Giacomo Albertolli e dagli affreschi di Martin Knoller. Nel fondo del cortile d'onore, sull'asse dell'androne, per un criptoportico in tre campi, si passa a un piccolo giardino.
Nel portico verso l'omonima piazza, sulla testata a sinistra dell'ingresso si erge una scala secondaria continuata fino al secondo piano con un parapetto di ferro lavorato in stile di transizione fra il barocco fiorito e il neoclassico. L'architetto Simone Cantoni intervenne, realizzando la cappella del Palazzo nel 1787.
Di particolare importanza vanno notati gli eleganti bassorilievi dei riquadri tra i due ordini di finestre nella zona superiore dell'edificio. La facciata è poi caratterizzata da un ordine inferiore a bugnato sul quale si impostano i due ordini superiori.
Nel 1991 sono terminati i lavori di ripulitura della facciata, che hanno riportato l'edificio agli antichi splendori.

Comic Con has started San Diego is filled with it's largest annual displays of mass marketing. From advertisement wrapped hotels to sci-fi themed restaurants and street side contests.
I walked past one giant stage display on 5th and J last night where 4 people are spending the four day comic-con living in a Dodge car, and at the end of the convention, one of them will win the car they're living in.

Palazzo Borromeo d'Adda, Via Manzoni 41, Milano.
Il palazzo è il risultato di un intervento di gusto tardo-neoclassico ad opera dell'architetto Gerolamo Arganini (1764-1839), eseguito tra il 1820 ed il 1825 su una costruzione risalente al secolo precedente. Committente fu il marchese Febo d'Adda, i cui eredi confluirono nella famiglia Borromeo.
La lunga facciata su via Manzoni presenta 15 finestre al piano nobile, sormontate da timpani alternativamente arcuati e triangolari, motivo tipico dell'edilizia residenziale milanese. Il portale d'ingresso è fiancheggiato da due colonne ioniche per parte e protetto dal superiore balcone che impegna tre aperture del primo piano. La pianta dell'edificio è organizzata intorno a tre cortili, disposti parallelamente alla strada. Dal portone centrale si supera un bellissimo cancello in ferro battuto con al centro lo stemma e il motto ("humilitas") della famiglia Borromeo e si accede alla corte d'onore, rettangolare, porticata su tutti i lati con colonne tuscaniche che reggono archi ribassati. In asse con l'ingresso il cortile prosegue nel retrostante bellissimo giardino che dà su via dei Giardini ed è arredato con statue di pietra. La facciata posteriore del palazzo è stata rifatta dopo la guerra con una notevole modifica delle dimensioni e delle proporzioni.
Tornando nella corte d'onore, si trova a sinistra del vestibolo lo scalone a due rampe coperto dalla volta a botte e dalle pareti laterali decorate con lesene ioniche. L'intero palazzo, e in particolare il cortile e lo scalone, furono entusiasticamente celebrati da Stendhal, che fu più volte ospitato.
L'edificio, ulteriormente esteso e modificato nella seconda metà dell'800, si presenta oggi in ottimo stato di conservazione.
Prima della guerra palazzo Borromeo d'Adda fronteggiava il palazzo Meli Lupi di Soragna già Melzi (n. civico 40), edificio dalla sobria facciata neoclassica distrutto dai bombardamenti e sostituito dal gigantesco stabile che arriva a comprendere anche il Teatro Manzoni.
Just back from a nice weekend with my girl in Köln. Of course suspiciously the same weekend Fanwelt 2012 was held there.
We saw some truly fine displays of talent there. Talked to some awesome guys, and generally had a great time.

It's the trailer of a documentary about my work filmed by
Italian director and producer Davide Gentile.
The shooting happened in Belgium. Basically, Davide and
his crew stayed with me during one week at my studio in
Braives (we also stayed a bit in Brussels). They captured
some 55 hours of film footage but the final film that will be
released is 35 minutes long.
UPDATE: it's now possible to rent or buy the full version
of the documentary via Distrify.

A view of Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI from the Upper Terrace 5/8/2012. The previous version of this was taken in 2011 and was taken with the roof open.
Some time after the American Civil War it became the custom to decorate the graves of the dead from that war. In time it became a national holiday for us to pause to remember the sacrifices made by so many to maintain our Freedoms. I have created a composite image of the American Flag and the sculpture Memory in the Virginia War Memorial. You know as I write that I find it strange to call it a War Memorial, as if it is to War itself and not the memory of those that gave their lives. I think to the ending line of Satre's adaptation of The Trojan Women, when Posiden says War will Kill us all. While I was creating this I thought too of the people that have been killed responding to acts of terror or as victims of those acts. Then too my mind went to those individuals that have given their lives in other ways to stand up for the freedoms we wrap around ourselves. Many of those were not soldiers but simple people who just wanted to be free. It is long past time when we should have found away to avoid war, found a way to accept and respect each other, to let each of us live to enjoy life. So let us pause and remember those that have been lost but look forward do some day when we might not have the road of freedom covered in blood.

Every spring the annual Alishan sakura season begins and the beautiful sight should not be missed. Alishan Forest Recreation Area has a large number of Yoshino cherry trees,followed in number by Formosan cherry trees;theare also 1000 Yaebenishidare (double-blossom dropping cherry tree ) cherry trees, Alishan is simply the best place to see sakura cherry blossoms in Taiwan.
