Italien, In Malcesine(TN) am Gardasee - Auf dem Monte Baldo (1760m)

 

Die Luftseilbahn Funivia Malcesine-Monte Baldo führt von Malcesine in zwei Teilstücken zur Bergstation Tratto Spino auf 1760 m s.l.m.. Sie bedient im Winter das angeschlossene Skigebiet und wird im Sommer von Wanderern und Radfahrern genutzt, die hier verschiedene Schotterpisten als Downhillstrecken nutzen. Auch als Startplatz für Gleitschirmflieger ist der Monte Baldo auf Grund seiner leichten Erreichbarkeit über die Seilbahn und der enormen Höhendifferenz (1680 m) zum Landeplatz in Malcesine äußerst beliebt.

Quittant la petite gare de Saillagouse au train 17313 Villefranche-Vernet-les-Bains - Latour-de-Carol, les Z109, 118 et 108, accompagnées par les remorques 20034, 20001 et 20036, sont capturées en pleine accélération sous les petits coups de sifflet du conducteur et le salut agréable des voyageurs curieux.

S - Rawdon Colliery MGR on 27th Mar 86.......The train had reversed out of the power station lines on the right, up to the first signal on the branch ,before regaining the main line here, In this old neg scan you can see the driver is looking back checking his wagons are over the junction before giving it full power

I think the working originated from Nottingham - but I'm not sure.

Note the somersault signal.

c/n 20034/798. New to Pan Am as N897PA in 1969. To Global International Airways and reposessed in 1983. To Falcon Aircaft Conversions and leased to Westar International Airways in 1984. Returned and reregistered as N732Q then to Jetran and leased to Skystar International Airways in 1985. Returned to Jetran and leased to Guyana Airways in 1987. To Comtran and leased to Ladeco in 1990. Returned in 1992 and stored at San Antonio. Scrapped at Shannon in 1997.

 

Broken up at Bucharest-Baneasa in 1997 according to scramble.nl.

The 6th of May 1982 was not the best day for taking pictures, and this Agfachrome 35mm slide has developed a very bad purple colour cast, so I nearly didn't bother processing it. Glad I did though.

 

20090 + 20034 go against the normal flow of coal heading a set of loaded 21 tonners northbound through Langley Mill.

 

Langley Mill sidings on the left, and the lady in tights on the advertising board indicates the presence of Aristoc's factory, most of which is out of shot to the right.

 

The sidings developed into the usual Birch tree forest, but I understand houses are to be built on some of the land, while the Aristoc factory is now .... you've probably guessed ... more housing!

 

There is no shot at all here now for northbound trains due to vegetation.

Heading towards Wolverhampton 20042 & 20034 have charge of a loaded steel train, they are seen from the then new Black Country spine road bridge at Coseley. The bridge spans both the Stour Valley line and the sylvan waters of the Wolverhampton to Birmingham canal.

The canal looked at its oily worst on this day although the water could still yield fruitful pickings for the angler provided he wanted a new front door or baulks of oil soaked timber.

20042 was built at the Vulcan Foundry as D8042, it was put into traffic 11/11/1959. It was re-numbered 20312 14/09/1998 and is with DRS at Carlisle (stored)

20034 was built by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn at Darlington entering traffic 12/03/1960, it was withdrawn 01/10/1990 and cut by M. C. Metals Glasgow 05/07/1991.

Durante los 28 años que Berlín estuvo dividida por el Muro, si Alexanderplatz fue el centro neurálgico del Berlín Comunista, Kurfürstendamm lo fue del Berlín Occidental.

Los millones de marcos que comenzó a insuflar el Gobierno de Alemania Occidental para ayudar a la recuperación de Berlín Este hicieron que tiendas, restaurantes y empresas se fueron estableciendo en la zona.

Con la reunificación de Berlín, Kurfürstendamm perdió levemente el estatus como centro de la ciudad y Potsdamer Platz ganó este título.

Hoy, a parte alta de Kurfürstendamm y su continuación, Tauentzienstraße, forman uno de los principales distritos comerciales de Berlín. En esta zona se concentran las principales tiendas de moda (la mayoría, franquicias internacionales), electrónica y deportes de la ciudad.

En esta zona también se encuentran varios centros comerciales, entre los que merece la pena destacar KaDeWe, el "Harrods de Berlín" (junto al metro Wittenbergplatz). Como curiosidad, su nombre es un acrónimo de Kaufhaus des Westens, en castellano, Grandes Almacenes del Oeste.

This is probably the clearest photograph I ever took of one of the characterful ex-LMS 20.5 ton brakevans which could still be found around the BR network in the 1980s. This example was part of a PW operation on the Penistone branch close to Barnsley station in May 1981. Tinsley-based Class 20s nos. 20065 and 20034 were in attendance.
